Primering a transformer?

hi guys. Im completely new to this stuff and i can only get my hands on Games workshop paints and not testors since i live in Australia and someone told me that since i cant get testors, i should be primering my figures before painting with Games Workshop by i have no idea wat that is. can someone expain?
THanks alot any info would be great.

Also i heard somone mention here on this forum about something u can put a transformer in which will dissolve the original paint, does any\one noe anything about this?

EDIT: sry for the double post, everything went laggy or sumfin and yeh.. accident lol

I don't think it's necessary to use primer if you seal it with a varnish at the end. You must use a base coat and GW paints work just fine. I've just posted some rather lengthy advice here on this subject in a thread on a very similar topic to this, so check there for my full answer!
