Removing wheels

So i'm looking to repaint my PCC Huffer. What's a good way for safely popping his wheels off without damaging the plastic?

I got a little soldering iron/tourch/ heat gun from wal-mart for like 9 bucks. It runs on lighter fluid (beutane, which you can get for like 5 bucks in the camping section) heat the pin with the souldering iron and it should loosen the plastic till you can wiggle the wheel out, with out damaging the plastic
