Custom Galvatron - paint removal?

Hi all, I have taken the highly original decision to customise an Energon Megatron in order to consign the terrible Universe Galvatron to the bin. All was going well, until I sprayed the parts I wanted to be purple. Unfortunately the paint has not gone on smoothly, and there is an 'orange peel' texture on certain parts. The stuff I have sprayed black is fine.

My question is this - how can I arrest this problem? I was thinking of the following:

1) buff/polish the paint to remove the bobbly texture (is this even possible?)

2) Remove the paint altogether and find new paint (would white spirit remove it properly, if I used, say, a toothbrush in the crevices?)

3) If I can and do remove the paint, can anyone recommend me a better paint?

I would appreciate any sugestions you guys could give me.

Thanks :)

Yeah, orange peel happens sometimes, usually either from humidity and or temperature issues, or the can was too far from the part. You should be able to smooth it out by wet-sanding with fine grit sandpaper (800+).

thanks man. Do I keep the part damp while sanding, or soak it? I don't have any experience with wet sanding.

Actually, you wet the paper. Look for wet/dry sandpaper, most hobby stores will have it; probably find something similar in an auto parts store if that fails.

Thanks man. I ordered some wet 1000 grit on Amazon. Hopefully that will do the trick. 8)
