energon divebomb dyed to laserbeak and buzzsaw updated 9.9.07

Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

i have had the dye to do it for some time now, but i finally got around to it. here are my 2 energon divebombs that i just dyed. i used scarlet red and cocoa brown RIT dye. i am going to apply the details when the figs fully dry. but i think they came out alright. the blemish parts on the wings etc are from the acetone, i will have them buffed out to a shine here soon.

Blimey, they really did turn out well! Just out curiosity, did you take them apart and dye the pieces separately, or just dunk 'em in whole?

i took the pieces apart besides the screws and rods. please note: if you are going to try this on divebomb, DO NOT dye the wing holder as the plastic shrinks slightly and enough to make the wings very loose and not hold a position. for buzzsaw i will be making the clear part of the wings clear blue, and i will use metallic gold, black and metallic blue to highlight him. on laserbeak, i will using metallic silver, metallic red, black, and maybe a small amount of blue. i will do the clear parts on him clear orange.

Those are great! I knew you could dye them but I had no idea they would come out looking that good! Perhaps I will try...

i didnt mean for buzzsaw to get that dark, but now that i have him cleaned up and semi detailed, it came out great so far. and when i was dying him, i let the outer portions of the head float above the inner part. and it gave it a 2 tone finish. looks awesome. cant wait to finish him.

i just use a paper towel and vigorously rub out the blemishes, but not too much. there are a few that couldnt come out, but then i coated the finished sections w/ future acrylic and they turned out perfect. and shiny.
the two pics of the pieces are coated; note the difference?

Oh they are looking so good now, thats amazingly awesome! And you did all that so fast from yesterday too, Buzzsaws heads looking ace. How did you get Laserbeaks clear orange feathers to go so blue?
