I just got this guy the other day as a birthday present, and holy! This is my first Masterpiece experience, and I can tell that I will most likely stick with 3rd Party from now on for MPs. At least for the most part. Crackup is extremely well engineered, and is built to last. Nylon plastic is used in most of the problem areas that can easily bend for Transformation, and bloody hell he's full of diecast! Not only the feet and pieces of the chest, but also throughout his internals. Super happy with this guy.
Oh and TMan, I would recommend at least switching out the face to see how you like it. At first I thought the alt face looked mushy, but after switching it out I realized just how huge the chin was on the other one. His boxy, loose cannon, Stunticon head just doesn't suite a handsome Squidward face imo.
(If you want a pic before trying it, lemme know! I already have some good ones taken, lol)
I do have a couple small issues with my copy however. Firstly, the headlights are meant to both have clear plastic dripped into the indentions over the painted details, but one side lacks that. Not a huge deal since it took me over a day to notice. Also his spoiler section does fall off at times, but that can be fixed easily with a couple dabs of superglue. Overall, the issues are very minimal and don't influence the functionality in the least bit.
I am just hoping now that after these guys, maybe X-Transbots will finally give us that cartoon accurate G1 Devastator I and I'm sure many have wanted. I feel it's about time. The Constructicons have had enough artistic license and masked faces. Bonecrusher and Hook need mouths! And HasTak's unsturdy recent attempt at it just won't cut it.
P.S. You make great reviews, TMan! Glad to see you on Seibs too!

thank you but don't write Takara Tomy off so quickly. There are a number of really good Masterpiece figures out there regardless of whether they have diecast or not

Of course, but I have noticed that newer figures have been getting more and more expensive very quickly. But even so, I am realizing that X-Transbots has only very recently started to lower the cost. I suppose it just depends on who I can get a better figure from for less.
Also update: Crackup's other headlight fell off. Now I know it wasn't a defect, but just poor manufacturing in general. Kinda annoyed about that. I caught the second one, but the first is most likely floating around somewhere, and that sucks since it's a "premium" figure.

Mine fell off as well. I just crazy glued it back on. The figure has other issues that I mentioned in the review

This immediately puts me off buying figures these days. As do rubber tyres. I'm even starting to jade to chrome as well (I'd rather they just used grey, anime-esque plastic)
The reason for this is plastic doesn't chip and sometimes, where metal meets plastic - you only have one section of a toy thats got any "give", which is sometimes more fragile than just having plastic there. Rubber tyres rot as well, which is a massive turn off, because as a G1 collector - I seem to endlessly spend time looking at the tyres on photos and even then you still get cracked ones...

The main diecast I notice is in the feet. There's a little bar on his shoulders that I'm sure his diecast but outside of that, I can't tell where else it is. The only place you have to worry is the feet

I noticed though that where there's diecast, it's usually attached to an area of plastic that's really flexible. There is also diecast inside of the legs where the wheels screw into, as well as the white part inside of the torso where the hinge is attached. Honestly the diecast is the least of my concerns. It's the clear window section with a pin hinge through it. THAT feels icky.
The rubber tires feel like a very dense type of rubber also, and not that sort of squishy kind. Idk what type the G1 toys had, but as someone who lives in Texas, these still feel like they're gonna at least last a long time. Though, if I notice any issues I'll post an update here.

I'm honestly annoyed with this figure in some ways, and wondering if I should just wait for Dragstrip (my second favorite Stunticon design), or not get any of the rest from X-Transbots if they're not improved much. MMC Ocular Max advertises theirs having more playability, so maybe I'll try some of their stuff out. That Arcee looks beautiful.
