Transformer music?

I was curious if anybody knows if there was ever a music score ever released of the original G1 Transformer cartoon? :-? I know there was one of some of the music in 1986's Transformers The Movie and the Japanese music like "Peace Again" and others from there exclusive shows Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory but what about the US G1 Cartoon music? If not some studio should consider releasing it to CD or a pay per download of the music in MP3 files. I mentioned it to the one record label that only releases CD's of movie and TV scores La La Land Records and they said that it would be the Holy Grail to get the rights to release copies of the old G1 score. Maybe some day it will happen since they showed interest in the idea. Hell they released music scores to things I thought would never see the light of day on CD like for example the previously unreleased scores to the first six Friday The 13th films in a six CD set which I of course got since I love Harry Manfredini's music especially 1984's Part 4 score and they also released my favorite music score of all about a year or so ago the original Die Hard Motion Picture Score. Here's a link to there site if you want to email them and mention it to them as well so they know people are interested so there would be a bigger chance of a Transformers G1 score :grin: http://www.lalalandrecords.com/index.html Always thought it would be cool to have the Transformers music myself then if you have the toys and are acting out battle scenes with them you could play the music for atmosphere. :CON:

Short answer is "No".

Slightly longer but unhelpful answer is that there was some kind of grassroots effort around this going on that I heard about last TFCon, but no idea where to dig up the info anymore. I'll try to find it and link it so that this reply is at least a little useful ;_;

Yeah shame that they have never released it to CD. Hopefully someday. I can imagine if it wasn't for the copy right holders saying no the Japanese would have released it since I remember reading somewhere that they wanted to include that music in the one CD they released years ago I think it was "Transformers The History Of Music" or one of the CD's after that and they were told that they did not have permission by the copy rights holders in the USA to release it even if it was just marketed to the Japanese people only. :-x I guess that is part of the reason why none of the followups to season three like Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory didn't have any of the music from the generation 1 season's 1, 2 and 3 in the episodes. Kind of makes you wonder how they were aloud to use it in Scramble City? Guess maybe an exception was made since it was just a one special episode deal. But who knows like you said maybe they will someday if there is a grassroots following to get a proper Transformers G1 Cartoon Score released to CD and or paid MP3 downloads. And if you ever do find that quote you mentioned please do post it. Love to read what they say in it. Thanks a bunch for mentioning what you know.:D

Nope. And it's a shame, too. Here in Japan, we've had three *awesome* soundtrack compilations. Having the US tracks would be awesome.

Yeah that is the part that surprises me most of all is your country not having it available on CD or MP3 download. I guess it is just a case of the people who own the rights to the music in the United States refusing to release it to the fans for whatever reason. Probably money. They probably want an exorbitant amount and I can understand if that is the case then record labels aren't going to waste there money and time paying that huge amount if they aren't going to make a killing on the sale of CD's or online store downloads. It would be like making a movie and putting more money into it than it would make in theaters if it bombed. But even so though I would imagine it would sell pretty well in your country though since even though there are a ton of fans in the US there are a hell of alot more in Japan. Maybe someday it will get a release even if it is a Japanese exclusive. And even so people from outside of Japan like myself who want it could always just ordered it from Amazon Japan or some other online Japanese retailer. Gotta love the world wide :-D web since it would have been alot harder back in the 80's. As far as them wanting so much that is probably part of the reason why Japanese exclusive seasons like Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory never featured any recycled US seasons music in them. Probably weren't aloud to because of the copy right holders saying no. They probably just made an exception in the case of Scramble City. But of course I could be totally wrong about that two since I have nothing to base that off of. Could just be a case of them wanting to make there own original music for the Japanese episodes to make them more unique and stand out from the US episodes. The way I see it someday they will release the US G1 episodes music to us Transformer fans even if it is limited to so many copies. Hell there were movie scores like I said that I thought would never see the day of being available on CD like the first six Friday The 13th film scores and sure enough a few years ago they released a limited edition boxset of them and the same with the first Die Hard movie score. So we fans should just be optimistic and figure it will happen someday. Some record label will obtain the distribution rights to sell the Transformer G1 Seasons 1 to 4 scores and we can have them for our listening pleasure. ;)
