This is ridiculous. Why so much hoopla for a man who has done absolutely noting as a president yet? He hasn't even had time to do anything. Stupid MTV generation.
I'm sick and tired of hearing about Obama. Can we just fast forward four years?

this isn't ignorance. obama has yet to accomplish anything, but he's being paraded around like a "got damn hero".
what has he done. being born a race isn't an accomplishment. and last i checked, thats the main reason people rooted for him. that is baed on what everyone in oakland told me when i asked why they voted for him. i congradulate him on achieving presidency, but he didn't have my vote. not based on race, based on the fact I"M REPUBLICAN!
but back to my argument, why does he need to be in 3 comicbook series?
does he need a team up with savage dragon? NO!
I understand the marvel deal is in its 5th print, but now everyone has hopped on the bandwagon.
I did'nt start this thread to bash, i started it to bring up they hype surrounding him is unnessecary. why are people worshiping this guy? What HAS he done? he's SAID he'll do stuff. There is a huge mess left for him to clean up, but he's twiddeling his thumbs

How about giving him his own series?
Team him up with the Governator as himself, and Bill Clinton as an OTT playboy character. The three of them can go on terrorist fighting adventures around the world.

Well, that's different. Bush-hating was a national sport, for heaven's sake. I always thought it was kind of mean, myself, the same reason I can't watch the first few weeks of American Idol. Hatred is not 'groovy', whether from Dems or Repubs.
One interesting note: Obama isn't *Black*. He is technically *biracial*. Why does no one seem to get this? It's actually, for someone in my generation MORE impressive to see a biracial president than a black president--when I was growing up, mixed race children were treated horribly by society, both white and black.
But he is just a man, after all, and I don't think any mere mortal deserves this much comic coverage. He ain't a superhero, and his rhetoric is very anti-violence and anti-war (I mean, isn't he more or less lumping the missile shield, giving buckets of money to Palestinian terrorists, etc rather than consider armed response and what the *hell* is he doing with North Korea?) so I'm not really sure he would or could team up with anyone to haymaker anyone else.
HK, haymakers all 'round!

As for me, I don't mind Obama appearing in comics. His Spider-Man appearance was fun. He's been popping up in the Marvel Universe in Thunderbolts and Secret Warriors and that's cool.
But why did he pick Norman Osborn to watch over the world?

Not that I advocate verbal cruelty towards any human beings but there were kind of, sort of, a few things Bush did which caused such outrage.
I do agree Obamamania is excessive though, his haigography started before he was even elected. So far I have liked much of what he has done in office but it's only been a month!

Dear Boss-bot,
Sincerest apologies. I left a bunch of blood on the DMZ and I get het up about it sometimes. Won't happen again.
Besides, one of the reasons I float on this site is I'm sick and tired of politics, and every time I read the news, I get depressed. Y'all are my escape!

As someone who voted for Obama, I am a bit disgusted by all the hype. Something everyone has to realize, however, is that Obama has no control over it. So really, I'm disgusted by those cashing in on him rather than the man they continue to exploit.
His image and persona is a cash-cow right now, mainly because people are buying any and every piece of merchandise they can get their hands on. The public buying all of this merchandise is the demand and the companies producing it are the supply, simple economics.
So when people stop buying comics and coins featuring our President's image on them, perhaps the "hype" will die down. Although, with the economy in the crapper right now, and people continuing to purchase Obama memorabilia, it does benefit the economy. So it may be best if it continues. Really, I don't know how much the pro's and con's are of having it either way.

Marvel, IDW, and Image feel that people are many more Americans deep down are hopeful that things are going to turn around. Here is an interesting fact when Regan came to power it took almost 2 years for him to turn the economy around.
Also given the fact that Obama has openly stated that he is or was a comic and that Spider-Man and Batman were his favorite superheroes gee doesn't sound like a good idea from a marketing stand point for Marvel to have him team up with Spider-Man? IIRC Erik Larsen started the whole trend when he had the Savage Dragon publicly endorsed Obama on the front cover of an issue. IDW did a campaign comic on him (and McCain) and they want to do a follow up.
Why? Because right now President Obama sells.

Couldn't help but notice at my latest run to my crack-dealer, ahem, comic shop, that they now have an Obama action figure. This is, to me, a bit too far. I'm not even talking about the Obama-ness, so please don't frag me for being political! I'm talking about the idea of an ACTION figure for a position (President) where the most action you get (unless you're President Clinton; sorry, couldn't resist!

I hope President Obama, the Action Figure, at least has GI Joe's patented Kung-Fu Grip.
HK, holding out for the Nancy Pelosi and Rush Limbaugh two-pack.
