I've really been getting back into Beast Wars since my bro gave me the complete collection last Christmas (the Madman Entertainment version with hours of world-exclusive bonus material), and I noticed that Big W currently has the complete collection of The Transformers for less than $75! It got me thinking that maybe this is something to consider picking-up; after all, I never really learned a lot about the precursor to Beast Wars other than the tidbits included in Beast Wars (it just so happens that two of my favourite eps are Bad Spark and The Agenda/Optimal Situation), so I thought I'd ask you all a few questions regarding Madman's The Transformers: Complete Collection:

1. Does the 'complete' collection include the movie? This is an important question as the box-set just won't feel complete without it (obviously)

2. What's your opinion and rating of the original series as a standalone?

3. What's your opinion and rating of the original series as a prequel to Beast Wars?

4. What's your opinion and rating of the original series as an adaptation of the various regional comic series of the time?

5. What's your opinion and rating of the original series in comparison to (the) G2/Robots in Disguise/Unicron Trilogy/Animated/Michael Bay Trilogy's rendition of the storyline?

6. What's your opinion and rating of the original series based on nostalgia and how you see it today?

7. What's your opinion and rating of the original series knowing you aren't old enough to have been there for G1 (much like me I guess)?

8. What's your opinion and rating of the collection as a whole, including content, bonus material, packaging, storyline, characters etc.?

9. Are there any plans for a Beast Machines collection?

10. Is it possible to watch a sample episode anywhere (so I can experience the show first-hand)? This could ultimately be the deciding factor as to whether or not the collection is a priority

I'd better stop the questions there as the list keeps growing bigger and bigger, but you get the idea.

Although they don't have a common storyline, so the comparison between them:
Marvel Comic: 10+/10
IDW: 7/10
DW: 6/10
Cartoon: 8/10

5. How would you rate the original series in comparison to (the) G2/Robots in Disguise/Unicron Trilogy/Animated/Michael Bay Trilogy's rendition of the storyline?

G2: Same as G1 with minor animation changes
If G1 cartoon is 10/10:
RiD: Didn't watch it after ep. 1-2, according to that: 3/10
AEC: 4/10
Animated: 9/10
Bayformers 1: 6/10
RotF: 3/10

6. How would you rate the original series based on nostalgia and how you see it today?

Nostalgia: 10/10
Today: 9.5/10
seriously better than a lot of cartoons nowadays

I clarified the questions a bit by asking your thoughts on various aspects of the original series as well as the DVD collection as a whole, and I also added question 10 which I initially couldn't remember! Silly me, I must be less than the sum of my parts, and if I'm not, then we're in a lot of trouble
