disrespectable decepticons
I thought that scene where all those tombs in Starscream's ghost showed the lack of respect for the dead. It look like unkempt graveyard, not like that scene in the movie where the dead decepticon leaders had golden markers and had fire glowing in them. No wonder Starscream's ghost is hanging around there. It isn't a good place to rest in peace.Of course, Starscream's ghost look like a hologram. The decepticon who made the writings in Thundercracker's and skywarp's markers knew someone was going to desecrerate them by hiding behind them even the statue of megatron smiling at starscream's feet statutes like he knew they was a trap.

That seems to be something all Decepticons have in common. They're complete jerks.
Life can be pretty sweet when your alt-mode is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.

I'd imagine that the Decepticon Crypt was in bad shape because at that point the Autobots controled all of Cybertron and probably didn't give a crap about Decepticon graves. remember that the enterance was sealed with bars, the Autobots probably did this so that the Decepticon past would be forgotten about, and any con sympathisers couldn't use it as a sort of shrine. Kind of similar to how the Fuhrerbunker was filled in at the end of ww2.

It was sealed sometime after the movie because the cons were able to bury their dead or commemorate their missing in action fellows. If the cons were truly jerks they would not care abour burying their dead let alone giving them fantastic markers. The cons cared enough to bury their dead on their home world where it could have been easily visited.
The Decepticons were booted off cybertron so the crypt was probably sealed off so it may remain forgotten, most likely by the Autobots.
The Autobots were odd in their treatment of their dead. Very different culter those guys. They put thier dead onto a ship and sent it into space. They did not want to visit it and were creeped out by the thought of having to board it.
It is almost like the autobots do not like dealing with their dead or dead in general. So they got rid of theirs and locked off the con crypt.
that's my thoughts.
Edit: They respect their dead enough to inter starscream's ashes and mark him a spot.

Wow, sounds like the Autobots are a pretty supersticious(sp?) lot. I imagine some of their spookyness around death was because a lot of them were originally civilians, and when the war was done just wanted to promptly forget about it. And it could be that seeing dead bodies of others reminded them of their own mortality. Reformatting and repairs only delays the Grim Reaper, but he still gets them all in the end eventually. So I imagine that thought is unsettling, especially to some of those who may want to imagine they are immortal.Sunstar wrote:It was sealed sometime after the movie because the cons were able to bury their dead or commemorate their missing in action fellows. I also imagine if an Autobot saw Starscream's ghost floating around the cemetary, he would correctly come to the conclusion that it was haunted. He might have the entrance barred and have other people kept out, mainly to keep them safe. If it weren't for the 'immortal spark' idea about Starscream, I would have thought that there could be more of these ghosts out there besides him, or that the ghost thats going about might be an evil spirit instead. If I was an Autobot, those last two would SERIOUSLY have given me the megacreeps, and those would have been the major reasons for the cemetary entrance being barred. I would have thought if there was a ghost of Starscream, there also could be one of Megatron too.

So it's the Autobots who have no real respect for the dead?

That's what crypts are for. Making a space for the dead that doesn't encroach on the land of the living.

I wouldn't say they have no respect for the dead, it's just not a big part of their culture, especially in the toon. The Decepticons were created to fill military roles, war has been part of their existence since they were just mindless drones manufactured by Quintessons, it would make sense that a warrior culture would honour the dead who fell gloriously in combat. The Autobots on the other hand were created to fill roles in civilian life and appart from medics would rarely encounter death, as such they are probably not as used to it and like Zombie Starscream said would just want to forget about it after the war ended and there was no need to confront it anymore.

Also, the dead Autobots in that crypt were also old friends: Ironhide, Huffer, Wheeljack, Ratchet, etc. It wasn't too long after they died and I'am sure visiting them would've brought some grieve.

We must not forget that Death is NOT a natural thing for mechanoid lifeforms. They could live forever. Most won't, but it still has to be a very unsettling thing for them.

Exactly. Plus TF religion doesn't state that there is an afterlife (except for the Primes, and all they get to do is hang around inside the matrix till the new Prime needs advice) you just go back to Vector Sigma and your spark is erased of all memory.

Wheeljack wasn't in those tombs. He returns later on in the continuity.

I just think it's some bastard with a sick sense of humour. They said "Make a tribute to Starscream as we remember him." They did. They remembered what was left of him- his boots.

Yeah I can easily see the cons going for that, it's their sort of humour.

Yeah. And I doubt Galvatron would have let them do anything more respectful than that.
