Hi Guys and Gals
So the unthinkable happened and I had a house fire. The room most burnt was the room where my oldest and dearest toys were boxed up. If I can identify any from the wreckage is there anyone here that can estimate a value for them for insurance purposes?
Suffice it to say, I am devastated, some of them are older than me! Gen1s and 2s were in there!
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Well, first off, report them to insurance as regular possessions. Do not report them as collectibles.
The best thing to do is get a replacement cost estimate from eBay and report that to the insurance agency. Search sold-complete listings.
Take pictures of the burned stuff.
lmk how this starts to play out. I've lost a collection before myself.

Re: Fire killed my transformers!
I've got a guy that is taking photos of everything, and I mean everything.
Why not list as collectables?
Some of the transformers I had Aren't even on Seibertron, let alone ebay, I have no idea how to value those!
Appreciate your input though, mate.

Your insurance policy likely has a very low cap on "collectible merchandise." In fact, it's probably 1-3 thousand dollars unless you got a specific rider for it.
General property is only capped by your policy.
So, depending on how you report the Transformers, you might be limited as to what you get back.
As toys, you should get 100% back. As "collectibles"...you're bound by the limits of your agreement.

I see.
I'm in the UK so I don't thing the same rules/restrictions apply.
The guy doing the inventory isn't listing under categories, just item by item.
That said, If I'm asked, I'll class them as toys. Really old, quite valuable, toys. lol.
