Does anybody here know of an existing real-life fan club for Transformers? I used to be part of a StarTrek club that met once a month at Godfather's Pizza. We did a LOT of stuff together it was fun.
I am thinking of organizing a local TF Fan Club here where I live and I want to know if anybody can give me some ideas of what and what not to do?
I am looking into a place to host it, I think my local university's commons area would be great. (UF REITZ UNION).
IT's open real late too so that helps if things run long
from time to time.
My main thing is how to handle content and what to do each meeting. We can't simply sit and talk about Transformers, we've got to have SOME kind of activities.
I am considering a soft market-time where people can trade wares as long as they are TransFormer related. That would be like at the end of each session or something.
Please help me with any ideas you might have. And if you live around Gainesville, Fl you could contact me personally.

You might want to try the <a href="http://www.transformersclub.com/">Official Transformers Club</a>
Using that and <a href="http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=36">Carbombya</a> would be much easier than starting your own club from scratch.

Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

See how many people are going to turn up first. If it's a small group, do a tour of some of the toy stores to see what figures are in stock, do lunch etc etc.

I used to run a pretty large TF fan-club back in the day, but it disbanded due to problems in administration...I had to give it up for personal reasons and the people elected to take over ran it into the ground...was fun back when it was kickin it, but stuff happens when you get global and stuff

What would your advice be about keeping it on a local level and what kinds of things did you do to start membership in the beginning? Please share with me what you did to drum up interest and how you handled meetings and such.

Well, we got most of our membership from the letters-section in the comic back then....just wrote letters to people that wrote interesting letters....My best advise is to post a "People Wanted" card up in your local comic/gaming store and see what comes of it

I wouldn't mind firing another club up again....too bad most people are on the coasts or on the other side of The Big Pond.....If anyone is in the Midwestern US interested, drop me a line and we'll see what will come of it!
