Tell Me Your Opinion About Movie Longarm

Postby An_de » Sat Dec 22, 2007 1:31 pm

I wanna get a Movie Longarm! I heard that his weapon doesn't separate from his arm. Well, the weapon kinda looks awesome on him, so I don't mind. But are his legs a little... too big? Tell me what you think about Movie Deluxe Longarm and his ALT mode (I think that his ALT mode is awesome!!!)

Movie Longarm is an awesome toy. Although i have a few gripes about it.

First, the alt mode is a bit small. It wasn't exactly the GMC truck is was supposed to be based on. It's more of a low-type small nameless pickup. But if you don't look back to the truck it's supposed to be based on, then this is not a big problem.

Second, the toy is not built so well. The arms will pop out easily. Mine has one of its arms already separated in the sealed bubble. But it's easy to pop it back in. So this is not a big problem either.

The major problem is transforming him back to truck mode. It's almost impossible to so properly. Parts keep on sliding off. You probably won't be able to get the hood transformed perfectly like it was in the bubble.

Overall, still a great toy.

Longarm rules! The weapon will come off with a screwdriver and 7 seconds of your time.

He's VERY poseable. I currently have him posed in bot mode ... holding his gun like a Gangsta. (held Above his head, tilted sideways and on a downward angle.)

He was supposed to be based on the same Model truck that Ironhide was ... but a slightly older version of that GMC TopKick. Auto Bot is correct, should've been bigger ... oh well. He doesn't lose points in my book.

Transforming him back to truck mode can be a pain, but it's not too bad. You just have to go in thinking "okay, get it to a believable point ... then stop F'ing with it." The doors just don't like to stay shut. His legs are a bit of a pain to get tucked in as well, hardly any room to get your fingers in there to manipulate them. The spacing is very confined, but managable.

I thought his feet were pretty silly looking at first, but the idea grew on me very quickly.

I think he's a must have for the line.

Some of these non-movie characters are amazingly good. Even better than most movie toys.

Longarm's a great fig.

Easily better than most of the other Movie figures so far.

Motto: "Nobody has to look for trouble."
Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
I agree w/ all the above, he's a great fig. FWIW the cannon unscrews from his right hand, as AlienQuickSilver mentioned, and it will peg securely into the left for posing. You can also flip the barrel over and fold out the tow hook to latch under the bottom edge of his back panel, and -boom-, instant shoulder cannon. (Hard to explain, just play with it until you get it.) AND the cannon can also be folded into a standing gun which Longarm can crouch over and man himself.

I took the lower legs off RR Bumblebee so he can sit on LA's rear platform, looks great. Def. pick yourself up one of these guys, excellent figure.

I agree with the above. It can be a pain to get him in alt mode, but with some patience and fiddling, everything comes together (even his doors will stay down). As for his gun, you can also hook it onto his back with the hook hanging down like in the game, or have him crouching in a sniper pose.

A worthy addition to any collection (along with Wreckage).

The sniper pose can be done without removing it, but having it on his back like the game, yes, you have to remove the screw first.

Screenshots will have to come from someone else. As for pics, they will be really dark mind as my room hates having pictures taken in it, but I'll see what I can do.

Don't say I didn't warn you. The hook:

And the shoulder cannon, which I never actually thought of until this thread, but is something he is keeping.

Why he went yellow in that last pic, I have no idea. :?

I can't decipher anything from these pics. Even with Longarm toy in my hands for comparison.

Gave me a headache.

I did warn you they would be seriously crap. Scenery and people I can do easily. Close shots, not so. Especially with that crappy camera. Lets see if I can give you a walk through, it's pretty easy.

Unscrew it first.
From the vehicle mode configuration, swing the brown arm section with the lights over the tow arm hook (it must be down fully with teh hook folded in first). The brown part holding the lights on should line up with the part sticking out the same shape (you'll know what I mean. The two look like they slot together, although they just rest together). Then rotate the barrel around so it's against the lights and extend the hook out and away from the light. position it so the lights are against his back with the barrel pointing down, and the white pivot that attatches the white arm to the brown arm is above the grey part that sit on his shoulders behind his head (the floor of the rear part of his truck mode). The pivot that doesn't actually move should be the only white part sticking above his shoulders. Then, position the hook in front of his face. It's easily dislodged, but it can be balanced so he has his hook in front of him, like the game. Unfortunatly, it doesn't swing around. :-(

Shoulder cannon: From vehicle mode, rotate the barrel down 90 degrees. Swing the brown light arm down as far as it will go towards the barrel, then balance the barrel over the grey part on his shoulder. You may need to adjust the lights to provide extra stability, but that's basically it.

And there's teh standing cannon as well. Seriously, I would add a whole extra value to Longarm's palyability just by removing the gun/hand screw.

Longarm is awesome. Super posable, great looking huge gun, nice head sculpt. And he looks bulky and strong. The diamond plate steel is a nice touch too.

I've never had a problem getting him into alt mode, and no pieces have ever come off of him. It is easier to fold up one leg at a time (for space reasons) and then put them together once they're as compact as they're going to get. Never had a problem keeping him in a tight alt mode with the doors down. I think it just takes patience, and like Barricade his legs have got to be completely folded in, even a little bit out and the front of the truck won't go together right.

surprisingly a really great figure, he just looks really good.

Maybe the problem with mine is because it's Takara.

All my Movie toys are Hasbro, and never had problems. Except for Longarm, which is Takara. And it's disappointingly very difficult to fold back into truck mode. It's like trying to mold a jelly.

Adding to the disappointment is the higher price i paid for it, because it's a Takara. I was expecting it to be better than Hasbro. Big mistake.

I really like mine. His joints are all nice and tight and I don't mind the gun. He's a little small but no tf is perfect. He's second only to 09 BB 8)

Yessss, I find the trick is to get the little groove/lip thingy on what would be his toes to slot and click under the windshield. Once that's done, his doors should close fully.

The card says, "As long as he's providing assistance to others, you'll see a big grin on his face."

With the solid metal "diver's" mask on his face, i wonder how can anybody see that he is grinning or not.
