Blackarachnia costume question
I am in need of a more portable costume for Botcon than my 7 foot tall Thundercracker/Starscream and my spouse suggested Blackarachnia. So which version of BA do you think would be more popular?
What other character would you like to see me as?

Probably her original Beastwars look would be most popular.
In a place such as this, you are the perfect prey for a brest animal!

Maybe I should list the choices if that helps folks,
Beast Wars Blackarachnia
Beast Wars Transmetal II Blackarachnia
Transtech Blackarachnia
Animated Blackarachnia
I think there is one more but I cannot think of it. So if you say original, I think of her first appearance in Beast Wars.

The BW would be the most popular, but all those legs would take up a lot of space. I'd go with animated if you need something that doesn't take too much space.

Re: Blackarachnia costume question
You listed a version of Blackarachnia from a series that was planed but never actully happened and forgot Beast Machines.
Allso I don't know if you're counting her sence she has a different name but sence she did become Blackarachnia in Animated, how about adding Elita One to that list?
Allso my last post was earlier this afternoon, why it telling me I posted something recently?

Costume-wise, if you're concerned about the legs then Animated is probably the best/easiest to go with, though I'm not sure how you'd manage her rear.
...Even though as a character she's so annoying!
Otherwise I'd say totally go for BW.

The rear on Animated just looks like a coat tail on a tux. Beast Machines would be the difficult rear if you can even call it difficult. All you really have to do is sew something togeather and stuff it with pillows. The difficult part is sitting down with said rear.

No, the rear on Animated would also be something stuffed with something else. If you look at Animated Blackarachnia, you'll see it's not just a "coat tail in a tux".

It is if you use her concept design.

I got the two mixed up when I was posting but you're right about the one used in the show. It still kinda looks hollow though so you might be able to sew something into that basic shape, drape it over a large ballon, and use starch so the shape holds. Or sew the fabric over chicken wire to get it in that shape.

I think the Animated version will be more manageable overall.
Less protrusions. More like a human form.

Most of the costumes are G1 based and may go with that cause that is what my friends do, but on the other hand a more human form might be nice.
I have never watched an episode of TF Animated, but she looks a bit more feminen and the costume looks like it would be fairly simple.
I couldn't sit in the Thundercracker costume or fit through doors either. Usually we stand around in the lobby and nobody else can sit in their G1 costumes either.

For the abdomen (rear) see if you can find a bustle at a vintage shop or online. That way it can be full and yet built to sitdown (carefully) in.

First to mind is her original BW form. I really don't think the spider legs would give you that much trouble. It's also the most recognizable (and the largest rack). The Animated design, however, is also worth considering, as it would be equally simple and feminine. Also, you may want to consider the uniqueness factor, I doubt there will be anyone else in an Animated-based costume. Either way, I am gonna be hunting you down for photographs!

I think that the animated costume would be so cool, but has two problems. One is the rack as you mention. I don't think I can do flat chested very well so original BA would be better in that respect. The other is Animated wears these high heels which I cannot walk in and I am not a size 4 with those skinny legs, so, I think no matter what, I would just make animated look chunky.

BW BA will be highly recognizable, and a nice change. There are so few BW costumes to be seen at BotCon.

If you're too ample in that area I don't think anybody will care. Plus nobody will notice if you're not wearing heels.

My grandmother was injured in front of Wall-Mart when she broke her heel a couple years ago. Smartest thing I've ever heard a doctor tell a person, "Don't wear high heels." We've allso had a few acidents at the theater which are to be exspected when you have girls danceing on stage in heels. Even though it's rehersed and coriagraphed (spelling) it doesn't completly prevent accidents from happening.
Considering the size of Blackarachnia's heels they wouldn't ACTULLY hold her weight anyway. I don't think you can even find heels that thin because they wouldn't hold anybody's wieght.
