When I got Mario Kart DS, I wanted to use Wi-Fi. But, I couldn't use Nintendo Wi-Fi connection on any normal wireless connection. Even when we got our own wireless, top-notch stuff, it didn't work. I can't connect to the internet. So I'm sick and tired of it, especially because I got Pokemon Pearl.
Do you think that I should just go ahead and buy the USB adaptor?
Nintendo Wi-Fi: I'm giving in.

You may have to change a setting or 2 on your router. Trust me. I had alot of trouble connecting to Wi-Fi with my Wi and DS. Then I just change 1 little setting and bam. I go from not being able to connect at all to pure perfection. Go through Nintendo's error code help walkthroughs first before you spend $50 on a USB plug-in, which could just cause more problems.

Like it was said, fiddle with the router settings a bit. First of all, make sure the firewall (in the router) is shut off before connecting. Once connected, turn the firewall back on, and it should adapt just fine.
It took me almost 4 hours to get my Wii to connect. I was almost in tears.

I can so relate. When UF let me borrow his wii, I couldn't connect at all. Took me days to find the right settings. In fact, I'm typing this on a wii right now.

What sent me close to a nervous breakdown was, in fact, that I got the WiiConnect24 settings to work, even downloaded the update, and I had to restart the system (I had to unplug it from the one socket and move it to another) and when I got it back on, got the same error code and everything and I screamed at the top of my lungs 'til my throat was sore.
Two hours later, after doing absolutely nothing...it connected on it's own and has stayed connected. It is one of the most fickle devices to ever connect to the internet.
I ended up getting P.O.ed at it again, just the other day. I bought Donkey Kong, and Punch Out! Feat. Mr. Dream, and it took 20 minutes to download both of them, because they kept crapping out.
It gave error codes and what not. Finally it gave in and downloaded them. I haven't the faintest idea what goes on inside that little machine, but it sure does know how to raise one's blood pressure.

I don't know how it worked, but it did. Then Pokemon Pearl's wifi crapped out on me. But hey, it works for everything else now.
