Funny, I've heard that was one of the worst ever and that Sonic CD was the best. In truth, I haven't played either. The best I've played was Sonic 2 for the Genesis.

The review i read said the only good points were that the levels were pretty colorful, but I enjoyed the game and the story

Yeah, it didn't get good reviews. Even the less negative reviews were pretty much C's, nothing great.

The best Sonic game ever was, and this may not be an entirely popular response, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Not even when hell freezes over, story was nice, but the game itself needs at least another year worth of work to be "finished".
I would say Sonic Adventure and Sonic Rush are pretty much the best Sonic games.

I take it back, i love sonic the hedgehog, (great game), But my favorite would be sonic battle, It had interesting gameplay and nine playable characters, plus emerls custamizable abilties add to it

in my opinion the new sonic games suck. the good ones are for sega's systems, like sonic 1-3. those are the only sonic games i will play.

So, is anyone else excited by Sonic 4? If it ends up being a major suckfest, at least it'll only be $10 for the first episode.

While being back to the old series is cool and nice I really liked the epic and gritty stories and the 3D look of the more recent games. So I'm kinda torn.

Gotta be Sonic 3 and Knuckles for me, excellent game with awesome music. It also managed to give us 3 different characters with differing playstyles that all still kept the element of speed, something the 3D titles don't seem to have done too well with.

Don't get me wrong I like some of the 3D games (SA and SA2) but I can't help but feel alot of them have been a little lack luster and/or frustrating. They also feel a bit too much like your bound on a single track and levels full of bottomless pitfalls are just a pain.

Not getting my hopes up for Sonic 4, as I've got my hopes up for quite a few sonic games only to have them dashed, I'll probably grab episode 1 when its out.

The game could only benefit from having a good plot, yeah. But excluding Sonic Battle, I haven't liked any of the new games since SA2.

It was the first Sonic game I owned and played, and it's still my all-time fave. I always loved watching that animated opening sequence.

Sonic CD. I'm still waiting for this to be ported and to be put up on XBOX Live's marketplace. I did enjoy the first Sonic Adventure, but only the part where you actually play as Sonic. Most of the other characters just seemed like a waste. The old school Genesis games are where its at though.
