I'm just curious what anyone else thinks.
Do you think it's possible to remove the springs from the FOC data discs so that their parts could move naturally and they would gain poseabilty? The joints may have to be coated a little bit to so that they're not so loose.
Or do you think that would cause the figure to fall apart altogether?

This. I'm specifically thinking of the Rumble/Frenzy/Rewind/Eject mold. It's the springs that keep his legs holding him up. Take out the springs, and the figure is forever doomed to do splits.
They call me “Tanker Chungus”!

Re: Data Disc Modifications?
I think the best "modification" you could make to the Decepticon Data Disks would be buying the MP versions of the characters.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I actually do have them, except for Ratbat whom I'm hoping for a cheaper release to appear.
The appeal of the data discs for me is the fact that it's the first time in a long while that we were able to have a consistent line up of Soundwave's and Blaster's agents for the classic shelf as opposed to random figures here and there (here's Laserbeak as a scout repaint, here's Ratbat as a deluxe spaceship repaint, here's Rumble as a tank that you can't have anyway).
It's such a shame that the designs themselves are so lacking. Like a lot of people I bought them all, trying to plug into that old G1 goodness and was pretty let down.
The Masterpiece (and 3rd party) versions do the job a lot better but are a lot more expensive and go on their own shelf anyway.
