Issues with classic 2-pack Optimus Prime Figure

As the title implies i have a problem with my old Transformers Classics "The Ultimate Battle" " 2 Pack Prime figure. The reason is that i just don't like the punching gimmick at all and even with his activation button fully extracted the figure is still loose to the extent that the punching half of his body swings approximately slight 3° degrees to any side.

My question is is there any way to modify his body to stay permanently locked? I've considered super glue and possibly drilling a screw through where the head goes, through the bottom of the empty compartment where it meets the grey plastic area housing the mechanism button.

If anyone has suggestions i'd like to hear it since i don't want to risk ruining him by attempting to taking him apart (to attempt to remove the mechanism), he's the only generation 1 style figure of optimus that i own on my relatively small collection.

Are you absolutely sure you pulled the switch all the way out? I have the very first release of this mold, and you really have to pull it out hard, but once done it does lock it nice and tight. I suppose mold degradation may be in play if you have indeed pulled it out enough, but I'd really make sure before trying to mod it.

I doubt you'd ruin it by taking it apart, pretty much the only issue is if you'd need to remove pins. Those things are annoying.

I have double-checked him recently and his lock pin is completely withdrawn and maybe it is mold degradation, it is 9 year old mold design. Also i dont have the necessary equipment to safely remove small pins, i usually only have a phillips screwdriver for small screw like on the toys and a screw driver for the smaller types of screw which are sometimes used.
