I finally found some at retail. Slash. I snatched her up quick. $10 I can deal with that. But once I got my hands on her, it felt wrong. She was so dainty, so light, almost fragile. Nice figure, good Dino mold.
I picked up my old titans returns basic class. 3 of her felt about right for one of them.
Is it just me? I understand cost vs manufacturing and all that. I'm just hoping I'm not going out of my mind

I liked it.
It made her a little more lithe in both modes than your standard chunky-monkey transformer.
The effect is even better in beast mode if you mistransform her

Slash is definitely a lighter figure, with a lot less bulk than your average legends class, but the others in the wave like Beachcomber are just as solid as anything from the previous waves

Its not just you, I felt it was much smaller and lighter than usual. But heft isnt everything. It still had excellent engineering for that scale, nice paint and a great design. We can compare that to G1 bumblebee who was the same price point and BB feels even cheaper.
The idea with Slash is that they wanted to make a thinner bot with a sleeker design and that meant that yes, she ends up feeling less heavy. But I dont think thats a problem. Deluxe Arcee from the Prime (RID) line feels smaller than Bumblebee but tahts because she is made to match a more feminine shape.
And it helps with the budget. A bdget is given for a line/class/wave in general, rarely for a specific toy. So looking at this first wave of legends class toys, her being a bit more dainty and lighter means more money can be spent on the other toys in that same class, which is how you end up with Windcharger who has an excellent deco, comparative to something from Takara. Plus, they use clear plastic which is usually more expensive. There was no clear platic used for the legends class figures in Titans Return and Combiner Wars (and even before that in Geenrations).
So yes, she feels lighter, but I feel there is still more quality when looking at types of material, complexity, design and paint. I much preffer her over any of those legends class seekers for example. Those dont even have proper articulation.

90% of the time when I play with a new figure, I approach it like a kid. I form a pretty quick opinion on whether I like it or not based on my inner kid...not a whole lot of technical analysis. And TBH, when I first got Slash in hand, my initial thoughts were "this is it? this kinda sucks." I went through the transformations, played with it in both modes, and it never really grew on me.

At times, appreciation for a figure can grow once you complete the set, in this Grimlock and his gang. I have her, and I will admit the figure is quite simple overall, her main selling is the novelty in being the first new "G1" Dinobot toy, an a female to boot.
