My cousin who thanks to transformers the movie has gotten into transformers he didn't growup during the g1 era so the movie was his first exposure to transformers. He asked me a question I couldn't answer as well as should have been able to. The only one I could come up with is g1 power master prime. Although I think he means that they could combine with another vechicle to form the super mode.

Well, would G1 Ultra Magnus count? He kinda... sorta... has somewhat of a super mode.
