Question on SKU/UPC

Postby Barrelass » Sat Jul 28, 2007 3:20 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew if both the Leader Class (Prime/Megs) had the same stocking number. I had to buy 3 of the Prime cause Fred Meyer had a buy 2 get 1 free. None of the Fred Meyers seem to have a Megs around here so I had to buy three Primes. If I found a Megs at say Walmart, could I buy one and return one of my Primes to Walmart with that receipt?

No. You cannot.

They do share an assortment UPC (one each of Prime and Megatron in a case) but each one of them has a slightly different number at the end to differentiate which one is which.

So when you have an employee scan the UPC with the Telzone gun, it just reads the master UPC and tells them how many of the Leader Class figures they have in stock.

The registers, however, can tell the difference between the two and it prints out the individual toy's UPC correctly. If it doesn't match when you go to return it, they can and will refuse the ability to return it.

You can try giving them your ID, and Social Security Number (They've asked in the past, don't know if they still do, but be prepared. It's used as a countermeasure against fraud.)

I wouldn't give it a shot, it's not worth it.

Thanks for the help. I will just Craigslist my extra one or something and wait on the Megs, unless somehow Fred Meyer stocks one in the next couple days. If Megs is half as tough to transform as prime was I may not need him. I think I am getting too old to figure this stuff out.
