No one knows about Nightwatch Prime and if they had named him Nemesis Prime, it would have been a good opportunity to put a popular character in the movie continuity while this movie line is still out.

What about his story/bio? Well, Hasbro can think of something. It can't be worse than Nightwatch Prime's... right?

There's probably just as many fans out there that dislike the Nemesis Prime concept as there are ones that dislike this repaint of a version of Optimus not actually seen in the movie.

I myself vote no to this as Nemesis, or Magnus as others were considering.

Basically it says Prime prefers to fight out in the open, but since Megatron can be really deceptive (it actually says 'deceptive' in the bio. Arrrrgh), he uses stealth shields to sneak right under enemy optics, and he is so quiet he can take out foes without using his blaster. Basically he's become Ninja Prime.

I still think Nemesis Prime would be better.

I would have preferred a Nemesis Prime, as well. I think the Leader mold would look great repainted black and grey.

Im happy for the Nemesis prime name to be retired for some time.

Plus having the exact same figure with a different colours being on different factions would possibly confuse alot of the youger fans; "why is Optimus a baddy?" etc etc.

N. Prime really doesn't have much of a backstory either, truthfully... Hasbro/Takara creators were sitting around one day going "you know, we've got this kinda cool [laser] Prime sitting here and people seemed to really enjoy spending money to own it, but how do we get people to buy it again so that we can make more money without spending more money on new molds/retooling?"

Then guy two, probably making tiny birds outta consumer cash goes "Let's repaint it."

And guy three, bored with rolling up his tie, says "Into who, Prime's too distinct of character?"

Guy two, "Magnus!"

Guy one, "We already have RID Magnus."

Guy two, "Oh yeah..."

Guy three, "I've got it, Evil Prime" Making spread hand gesture.

Guy one, "Meh..."

Guy two, "No wait... Someone as tough as Prime, with all Prime's strengths and none of his weaknesses."

Guy one, getting into the idea, "...and we'll paint him... Black! Cause that's as evil as evil gets."

Guy four, up until this point quiet, "And that'll be good enough for the 1:30 meeting, let's get some lunch. We can work on a better name then." Though secretly, he's slightly offended by the black=bad association.

Guy three, as they leave for Arby's, "What's wrong with Evil Prime?"

For my money, if/when we get it Stateside it'll be rechristened Onslaught. At least he has a decent backstory.

i guess they didn't want to bring nemesis prime into the movie universe. since all the re-paints have a back story, hasbro didn't want to explain how an evil prime came to be. but yeah , "Night Watch Prime" is pretty dumb.

I think a lot of people have way too much time on their hands. Heck, call him Blueberry Prime or Papa Smurf Prime if you want when you are making transforming noises. Does it really matter what his name is?

I agree. I am tired of naming every Prime repaint either Ultra Magnus or Nemesis Prime. Nightwatch Prime is fine by me. Also for the record, I am glad they did not call it Scourge.

No thanks. I have a Black Prime compulsion enough as it is. Adding that name to it would mean me having to buy it. While I really like that figure, I don't want to buy it twice. Then again, He doesn't really fit the color parameters for a Black Prime/Sourge/Nemesis either. He'd look very out of place in my Black display.
