Lio Convoy Variants

Postby publicvisage » Sun Sep 09, 2007 4:30 pm

I'm thinking about purchasing a version of Lio Convoy, and I think I've found one on BBTS that fits my price range. However, its marked as Lio Convoy (Flash)(Clear). http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10176&mode=retail&picture=aux1

Is this a different variant than the regular Flash Lio Convoy?

Does anyone have pics or the figure itself?

flash lio convoy is clear and silver, it isnt white and does not have a blue head, red chest or gold main, however it is limited edition and very cheap to get right now compared to the original c-17 lio convoy which everytime i try to bid on goes up to about $70

Motto: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings to randomly click things in the Admin Panel to see what it breaks."
And then there's the black version and the EXTREMELY rare Purple/Galvatron coloured version.

I really appreciate the feedback. But my question is whether I'm looking at a third "Clear" variant of Flash Lio Convoy or if Flash Lio Convoy is simply called Clear Lio Convoy in some places.

hmmm...i think this is the Flash Lio Convoy. the plastic comes off as white in the pic, but in reality it's translucent white. check out this review for more info:

http://www.bwtf.com/bws/toys/reviews/flashlioconvoy/

if you want him, go get it. for the price it's a good piece of work, though you can't expect some great play value from him (or so other reviewers have said). it's pretty cheap for a supposedly limited variant of LC. 8)

Heh. I think that is going to be my plan. I just get confused when there are six different versions of the same figure, and I really don't want to end up with a figure thats completely see through.

But thanks! I appreciate the feedback.

hahaha. yeah, i see what you mean. besides, the Flash Variant's actually canon (unlike the clear Primal), as it was shown in the BW2 movie or probably an eppy in the show. supposed to be a supercharged LC or something.

on variants, i think for every Lio Convoy release (regular ultra-size and Robot Masters) there are only 3 versions. the regular one's got Original, Black exclusive, and this one (Flash). RM's have regular, metalized, and black. so there ya go. 8)

there are actually two variants of the regular sized black. one with teal claws and one with gold. Then of course there is the the previously mention lucky draw galva-lio convoy.

edit: ok apparantly there is a silver toe'd lucky draw also

Depth_Charge wasn't entirely clear, but he already gave you your answer. Flash Lio Convoy is clear plastic. The listing for BBTS is just adding emphasis to that fact.

thanks for info. i want to see the gold-clawed ones, do you have a link to a pic of these? must be more rarer than regular black exclusives. Dengeki Hobby, i presume?

and man, oh man, oh man.... a lucky draw lio convoy. this world just isn't fair. LOL. 8) is it smothered in metallic gold? that just isn't... right. hahaha. too many exclusives in the world already.

You could always go with this one:

http://gundamstoreandmore.com/tak57697.html

It's smaller than the others (deluxe as opposed to ultra), but I've read that the smaller scale and slight retooling results in a better-made and more stable figure. The price is pretty great, too!

And there's also the $5 KO version commonly found at Big Lots... after reading this thread, I kinda want to repaint mine to match the Galva-Lio Convoy's colors. :P

it's a better mold of lio convoy, and one i have been looking for a long time in stores everywhere, until i got fortunate in singapore (of all places!) thru yahoo auctions... paid a hefty $25 for this smaller version, but from what i hear he's totally worth it.be expecting the shipment in a week, i'll post some pics when it arrives.

oh, and my original Lio Convoy/Galvatron loose 2-pack will be arriving today or tomorrow, i'll let you guys know as soon as i receive him.

man, am i such a big sucker for lio-formers. 8)

just got LC, and for the price i got him he's pretty amazing. great mold, awesome sculpt, excellent homage to the G1 prime, lots of gimmicks, and with the exception of the right arms, extremely poseable (although mine still has tight joints, especially in the leg/crotch ball joint sockets).

NO PLAY VALUE though, the shoulders are too delicate and not connected to anything securely in robot mode. wish they'd had some sort of remedy to this.

nevertheless, get him if you see one below $50 and really want the original version of Lio Convoy.

btw Gutter Bunny, those variants are just plain SICK. as in whacked out man. haha. i never could get a chance to own one of the "shiii-neeey" golden LCs displayed there.  :P  8)
