one of my friends is going to japan in about a month. I was thinking about giving him some money to pick up some transformers for me while he is over there. Anything i should tell him to look for. if you could go what would you get?

go for encore megatron (for obvious reasons). and get some MPs if you dont have any (since theyll be cheaper).

whats that orange jet in your sig?
btw.... try to get a the movie 70s BB there, because it has clear windows which is pretty cool and would probably only be about 10$ u.s.

It's getting tough to find Masterpieces. MP Megs, Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, and Starscream are all sold out. The MP US edition Starscream will be released next month.

Movie BB are sold out.

Encores are your best bet unless your friend visits the manga shops for older stuff.

Does Takara have a suggestion box? If they do, please request that they make a Masterpiece Victory Saber. Something like that would seriously complete my collection.

In terms of buying a figure there, go for encores. Buy all of them, thereby encouraging Takara to make more. And if your friend finds any movie figures, he should pick them up as well. I'd like to know how the quality compares to US versions.

So how big of a difference are there in prices? Ie, I ordered a MP Megatron for $105. How much should he be if I bought him in Japan?

I'm wondering because I actually know people (old classmates) that live in Japan... I never thought of asking them to buy them.

When I talk to them next, what stores should they be looking at? I'm sure they won't know anything about TFs so i would have to tell them as much as they need to know...

Get the Encores, well worth it, and they won't take up too much of your friends luggage space either.

When MP Megatron was released, the US dollar was pretty strong, so you could get one for about 65 USD. Now the US dollar has kinda tanked, so it'd be more. I think the yen/dollar rate is only about 110 yen for 1 USD. So movie Bumblebee would cost about 18 USD from Toys R Us, the Encore Reissues would be around 40 each for Prime, Megatron, and Soundwave, 25 for Starscream.
