Me Grimlock loose!!!!

Postby Uniprimus » Mon Sep 24, 2007 3:37 pm

I just revieved my G1 Grimlock from a person who said all his joints were tight and snug, and he, in bot mode, can't hold his armds up AT ALL. They just swing back down. This is also a prob with his dino head and the left part of his dino arm/side. Is this a common problem? What should I do?

I did tighten the screws...nothing changed.

And this isn't a ball joint. How would I put on the nail polish??

Contact cement works nice on the joints. :3 It's how I fixed the loose arm my Grimlock had.

Very much like super glue, but it's a flexible adhesive. One that you use on models and the like.

Where can I get it? How do I apply it?

And what about the loose left back 'wing'?

Probably at Home Depot/Lowe's. Use a small toothpick or q-tip to apply the substance. So first, remove the screw that connects the arms. Then put a little bit of the cement on the joint. Wait 10 minutes before putting the piece back together. After you screw in the screw, allow 30 minutes to dry. Then another 24 hours for a complete "curing" to take affect. For the wings, I am not sure.

The stuff from Homedepot might melt the plastic on the toy. He's better off going to a hobby store or a art store.

Read the fine print. They recolored it themselves to make it show accurate.

Anyhoo, my Grimmy has the same problem, so this is useful stuff.

It worked fine, and the label said it's safe for plastic.

It is safe for most plastics but toy plastic is very soft so you would have to use a very small amount....believe be I know about the stuff,I manege a Home Depot for a living.

Contact cement was still a great idea ,I would just go for a weeker type then the depot sells.....try a hobby store or a art store for their brands.

I used a nitrile disposable glove to tighten my Grimlock's joints.
I removed the leg, cut a small square of nitrile and put it over the hip peg, then re-attached the leg.

Worked a treat, a little easier to sort out if it goes pear shaped as well, don't fancy accidently gluing Grimmy's legs on...

Cheers,
Doug

PS. On a similar note, I have a G1 Slag w/ loose horns. Are there any fixes for this?
