76 BB review?
- Motto: "Life is like a triple-X choose your own adventure..."

Sorry, this is probably buried back a number of pages, but without the search option... What are people's thoughts on 76 BB? I passed on him because I was much more interested in CC BB, but considering how much I like CC after finally getting him I'm wondering if I should pick up 76 if/when he starts showing his face again. I know there were problems with some button or automorph feature, but I hear that has been resolved? Other than that, how is he? Similar transformation to CC? Completely different, but just as good? Overall opinion?
Thanks in advance...
Thanks in advance...

Thanks much, I didn't know about this section of the site... But can I be a pain and ask for a comparison to CC? Seems the reviews say this one's a fairly simple transformation, whereas, IMO, CC is not very simplistic at all.

I just got 08 BB and I must say that aesthetically I prefer his appearance, as well as some other aspects, but 76 BB is definitely still a worthy purchase. However, he's a little bit of trouble in that, at least for me, his chest area is a nuisance, because the plate with the autobot symbol likes to slide down, followed by his head. Also, his "wings" aren't nearly as good as 08's. Looking at 76 from behind, his legs are really clunky. Now, I do like how the panels on his arms are fixed and don't move around. As for their bodies, they are pretty similar.
The automorph feature on the hood of the car no longer works for me, but I didn't really use it anyway. I know that this doesn't sound like a great review of 76, but I love the figure regardless of his flaws. He's extremely easy to transform and he's still an attractive bot. If you find him in the store, he's worth your ten bucks.

meh i've seen him and hes not very nice. The vehicle mode looks fake with those painted windows. And the duck feet and non movie accurate look make him a pass. 09 bb rules

If you get him, just make sure that you press the button on the hood when transforming him. The best I can make out, the people with the broken automorphs broke them on the initial transformation by pulling the hood down manually rather than using the button.
It's true that the feet could've been done a little better, but depending on how you pose him, they don't look so bad. Not as bad as some of the publicity photos anyhow. I got the clear windows version, and I'm very happy with it.

In my opinion he's much easier to transform than 08. And I don't get the deal with the automorph button when it's quite easy to just pull down the hood.

Compared to Concept BB, he's a piece of cake to transform, assuming you don't have the automorph problem. Even if you do, it can be easy enough to fix.

Thanks guys...I actually like the more complex transformations, though. One of the things I like so much about CC, in addition to the fact that he looks totally kick ass.
I don't think 76 looks nearly as cool in either mode, and if he doen't have an overly exciting transformation I may hold off...I dunno.

My 76BB is a slut. He's always spreading his legs. And that must make him sore, cuz he can't stand up very well.
His alt mode is fine looking IMO though.

... but the automorph broke on yours right? I just saw a fresh batch of '76s, and they have this removable sticker on the windscreen drawing attention to the button. Says "press here to start conversion".
I've heard that on some of the Bumblebees where the automorph has broken, the hood no longer locks into place when you go back to vehicle mode. For that reason, I'd be careful about ignoring the button. The button's a bit stiff, but it's just a matter of pressing it in the right place.

I think you might regret it. It's a really nifty transformation, I thought. It is fairly complex in having quite a few moving parts, but it's also pretty quick to change from one mode to another. It's not awkward the way some transformations are, where you have to make a lot of little adjustments to make the parts fit. I'd rate it a mid level transformation.
I have the Japanese version with the clear windows, and I have to say, in car mode it looks a lot better. I actually think it looks better than the concept camaro version. Part of the reason it looks better is because, due to using clear plastic for the windows, there is a lot of yellow paint. The rest of the plastic is a rather ugly shade of yellow, but the paint is very much the colour you'd want it to be. But that's the expensively shipped Japanese version.

I actually prefer us 76 bumbblebee over the japanese version and concept camero bumblebee. in car mode, 76 has the robot ass and robo thighs pressed against where the clear windows are on the japanese version, which, along with the fact that half jap bumblebees legs in bot mode are clear blue, demotes the japanese version to second place. concept bumbles has a ugly car mode that is so generic it shames the camero name, plus the bot arms are pressed against the side windows quite clearly. my 76's automorph hgasn't broken despite the fact that it has had about 500 transformations since i got it. it is also much less fiddly that the 08's tf, where everything scrapes past each other, and gives him seams that fit together poorly in car mode as well, whereas the 76 fits together very well. 08's bot torso is very gappy, plus his fake bewbs, along with his cowboy hips, make him seem like an old man. the roof panels on his arms flop around and get in his way, whereas 76 has his asrm panels fixed in position and are even molded so that they only get in the way inposes that you have a 90percent chance of never using. they have the same articulation, besides the cact that 08 has traded an u[pper thigh swivel for a waist joint that is angled so that for every 90 egrees he turns, he has to lean back by 45 degrees. plus, while 76's leg automorph leaves panels on the back of his lower legs, they do not intrude, but the rear bumbler, windshields and thigh panels all get in the way of each other and the legs on 08, wich demotes him down to 3rd place.

Not to sound like an ass but the concepts mops the floor with 76 bb. Painted windows? come on! The bot mode looks pretty dumb w his duck feet can poopy looken chest where as 08 has a very movie accurate look 76 looks like it got hit by a truck. Ulgy rusted out car vs shiny new concept camaro mmm concept wins by a mile

I have alot of reasons to like the CCBB, but those are all personal nostalgia.
As for the figure, I think he was made to look simple just to realy drive home the idea of the "UPGRADE" in the 08 version.
One thing I was very suprized about on this figure was actualy how the panels broke up and flipped. I think they realy did a good job of matching the movie transformation.
The different options for possing the weapons is a nice treat too!

You guys talked me into it...just got back from a couple Walmarts and I picked him up. Haven't opened him yet though so no review yet.
PS...Both Walmarts I went to had plenty of deluxe figures in stock, so check out your local Walmarts. And if you happen to be from MN, check the sightings section...

I love my 76 BB. Never had a problem with him and both automorphs work nicely. And since I love old muscle cars, I have no problems with his alt mode. I was really happy to get a classic camaro transformer and would get a couple more if I found them just to repaint.
