Ok MP Megatron is coming back soon, and you don't know if you should buy him?
Well read my review and decide for yourself!

MP=5 MEGATRON


First off a few interesting facts:

1.E-bay (ore Evilbay) hates MP Megatron!

2.The US. toy restrictons hate MP Megatron and give him a condom!

3.Australia hates MP Megatron and demands that you have a license to keep him + you'll have to keep him locket up (that's wen you're a Australian collector!

Bot-mode:

Looks a lot like the G1 toon counterpart, the head is a bit long and as this pissed of expression, it makes you think "You don't deserve being any ware near me!".
It has quite a few points of articulation, but no waist articulation.
The paint job looks like real metal, once you take him out of the box you'll see his chest and think "OMG, Diecast!", but it's plastic! It has this molded-on detail of a ruff Metal surface (his chest that it), plus the grate paint it really looks like metal.
He is quite difficult to pose since he is, not only cos of his freaking big-ass canon, quite front heavy.
The Fusioncanon is to big for him to be posed corectly, plus you can't conect it to the side of the arm.
The only diecast on him are his crome feet, which in some cases start to irritate as a few have noticed, and a bit of a skeleton holding his harms and head to the back- yea his backbone.

The Accessories:

Megatron comes with hie Fusioncannon, his Mace, the sword he used in the movie, the gun he used in the movie and last but not least his most dreaded, most fearsome, most horrible weapon ever- Kremzeek!

The Transformation:

It is one of the most frustrating things ever!
You will be terrified to do it, you always think he'll break!
It takes quite long, for the first time you'll need the instructions, after the first two transformations you'll have it memorized.
But it's very interesting and looks kinda cool!

Alt-mode:

Is a oversized Walter P-38 semi-automatic pistol (yea a German gun), looking quite realistic.
Well, it dosen't do much, the trigger can be moved, but that's it.

Overall result:

He's quite delicate, but cool, poseble but not very poseble- He's a display piece only, has a real good paintjob, can have problems with his chrome and joints.

I recommend him for any Megatron fan that will display him, plus this will be the closest we will ever get to the cartoon version.
You won't have any fun with him is you keep him in his box ore try toplay with him in a rather ruff manor.

He looks good next to MP Prime.

I give him 4.5 Stars from 5!

I got him from a ebay seller, who was chuked out of ebay right after I payed for Megatron, I was so very scared!

He cost me around of 80 pounds, with shiping customs and a seconed one (yea the seller send me two, I went and payed $40 for the seconed one)
So I hold the recored of getting a realy expensive toy cheap!

Nice review Dm! Other things worth mentioning Megs fusion cannon is too big for him to hold. He can't pose too well with it. His mace chain is too long for him to swing without tripping. His mace is more suitable for us instead. He should never ever be transformed or played with. He's too brittle. Especially his pegs. If any of his pegs are broken during transformation, his altmode won't hold up together later. I'll show you the pegs I'm refering to. Don't rush by paying 200 or more for him. I'm sure takara will release more mp Megs later this year. Dropping the price for a little while. That being the opportunity for a reasonable purchase for the budget. But I'm telling you now if you thought he was a toy to be played with
you'll be dissappointed.

If you transform him carefully, it's not a problem. I've done it several times already and mine is still in perfect condition.

He does look kind of funny, but concidering how he looks in both modes, I dont think they could have make him any better. To me, he is a must have for any TransFan.The price point right now is super resonable compared to supreme class figs and ultimate bb. Next year when he is over $200 again, then I might have to think about it.

thx for the review. very helpful. i've been contemplating getting him since he came out but every time i see him and read other reiviews i just feel a sense of dissapointment for the figure. i think it should've been much better and i think it was a little rushed into production. mp prime truly is a masterpiece, screamer was decent aside from the size and retarded color scheme, magnus is just albino prime, and most seem to be very please with skywarp but megs just doesn't feel right to me. yes, the legs are too skinny but they're also too high compared to his chest. he has that steve urkel high pants look. also his face is just kinda off to me and of course the fusion cannon is too big which is mind boggling to me how they could've screwed that up so badly. i kinda hope we get a improved remake in the future but i know that won't happen. i'll probably end up getting him but i think anything over $100 is way too much.

Not a problem to you. But there's many that it would be a problem. Like me. Breaking the thigh plate tab was my fault the second time I transformed it back from p-38 to robot. Shouldn't have yanked it down. Got to separate easily the folded arms connecting the chest in p-38 mode ,and those pegs will easily automatically unhook from beneath the folded arms. To those that haven't transformed him yet watch for that part. If you don't want to break the thigh plate tiny hook peg off. While that one peg above the trigger wasn't my fault. I did it carfully by the sixth time I transformed it ,and it snapped right off. Super glued it ,and it still came off when I transformed it at the very first attempt. Reglued it and didn't try again. Without those two pegs it didn't hold at all in p-38 mode.

So would you say he's worth getting or is it maybe best to wait till he can be bought for a cheaper price? I already paid £89 for MP Prime back in early 2006 and he was worth it, but I'm not sure if MP Megs and Screamer would be. Though they do both look great.

for anyone put off by megs rather gangly appearance he can be made to look way more solid by the two simple tweaks.

1) push the lower part of the thigh down into the knee, this shave about 1/3 inch of his height but makes his legs more proportioned.

2)lift the 'plates' that form the upper foot up at an angle so they rest on the underside of the front of the lower leg, this gives the impression of a MUCH more solid boot like foot rather than a flipper.

these 2 changes make megs more stable and make a big difference to the overall appearance of the toy, for sure a display piece, not one to fiddle with, give this to a 7 year old and it will be broke in minutes if not seconds. heres a pic.

Both Starscream and Megatron are worth getting as display pieces. They aren't the kind you want to be transforming every second. You can't play with them as much as Mp Optimus Prime. I wouldn't pay 200 or more for MP Megatron. He's not worth it. Takara's Mp Starscream costs a hundred or more. Still not worth it. The good news walmart will be releasing their Streamscream mp exclusive soon for $59.99.

Both Starscream and Megatron are worth getting as display pieces. They aren't the kind you want to be transforming every second.

I think so too, although I only have a 20th anni Prime in hand. I have only transformed him twice. I mean I appreciate his MP design and complicate transforming, but it is more fun to me to transform the two classic Primes and RM G1 Prime back and forth.

My collection consists of Alternators, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Classics and the Movie line. As it stands, A/A/E/C/C sits on my collection shelves, untouched. Right now, it's Movie, Movie, Movie, Movie. They're my main focus right now and they get transformed frequently. I'd say each figure, on average, gets transformed once to the opposite mode (if it's in robot, I'll transform him to vehicle and vice versa) and then leave it on display. Sometimes I'll leave the figures like that for an entire week and then come back and transform them. Then other times, I'll transform 'em to robot and back and then back to robot before putting it down.

So as you can see, I don't play with my figures really (although I considering transforming and posing them as playing. ) and I like frequently and infrequently transform my figures back and forth at any given time....

Will Megatron hold up under that kind of usage if I'm delicate? (If you saw my collection, you'd say I'm almost dainty*.)

*= Dainty as in overly fastidious, squeamish. And under the heading of fastidious: Possessing or displaying careful, meticulous attention to detail. Exacting.

So after all of that long winded crap...if I pick him up on any given day, take my time, go really carefully with him...he'll hold up, yes?

1) push the lower part of the thigh down into the knee, this shave about 1/3 inch of his height but makes his legs more proportioned.

2)lift the 'plates' that form the upper foot up at an angle so they rest on the underside of the front of the lower leg, this gives the impression of a MUCH more solid boot like foot rather than a flipper.

these 2 changes make megs more stable and make a big difference to the overall appearance of the toy, for sure a display piece, not one to fiddle with, give this to a 7 year old and it will be broke in minutes if not seconds. heres a pic.
