One thing I'm really tired of as far as topic go
If someone puts up a picture of g1 soundwave these days. The third post in the topic is why isn't there a classic soundwave. Then comes the next step on progression of the topic, something about mp3 soundwave and how someone use him as a place holder for classic soundwave. Hasbro never gave any reason why they won't do a classic soundwave but I'm sure it is a really stupid reason, and now with new animated series on the way and soundwave being included in that I know we will never have one. So what do you guys think about all this I thought I would start a topic were people could vent there frustration at never seeing a classic soundwave.

I think it would be hard to give him an alt mode similar to his G1 design. Other than a nostalgia factor, there's not much use for a cassette player these days. I was happy to get my TRU editon and I just don't think it would be "classic" if they changed him to something different.

My natural response is to say MP3 Soundwave is the closest thing right now to a Classic Soundwave, but I don't think that is what you want to read.
Kinda of a weird thread - you say you are tired of 'Soundwave' threads, yet you open the topic up for one.

Yeah but I figure we might as well give soundwave his own topic since it seems every time someone post a picture of there g1 collection we get a 100 post about soundwave even if the person has some really cool g1 figures posted besides soundwave people just seem to focus on him these days. Hope that is better.

I think I will have to disagree with this, they did a pretty good job updating this line to the present ( with the exception of Megs of course) I think they could have done a Mp3 player Soundwave and got away with it just fine..

I consider MP3 Soundwave to be more of a Hybrid-Style myself.
As for a Classic, I think it could be done well. Cassette players aren't too common these days but believe it or not some stores still sell them and some companies still make them
I happen to own a "modern" cassette player and it doesn't look the slightest bit outdated when next to my CD player. So to say that cassette players are just too outdated for there to be a classics Soundwave is just a pathetic excuse for Hasbro to avoid the bother of actually having to design something good for a change. Cassette players are still relevant enough.

I am confused about the lack of Classics Soundwave because
the box that reissue Soundwave comes in says Commemorative,
but is Classics styled.
Also in the Transformers Collectors Club magazine
Soundwave is there with the rest of the Classics TFs.
That suggests to me that reissue Soundwave serves a dual purpose to collectors as a reissue and a Classics.
I don't altough see why Soundwave can't be made a nonworking
mp3 player where his memory sticks transform into say Ravage,
Laserbeak and so on.

I don't see how a cassette player is still relevant today. A CD player is more contemporary and even they are pretty much obsolete these days so long as you've the ability to transfer mp3s onto a player.
That said, for a Classics line I wouldn't see any problem using that alt mode.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

The Seekers were done with the same alt modes they had twenty years ago, so why not Soundwave?

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

Soundwave is a Micro Cassette Recorder..... He isn't a Tape player that plays your favorite 80's tunes..... No, you record your classes with him. Go to best buy and type in Micro Cassette Recorder... you'll get a bunch of results.
Micro Cassette Recorders are still alive and well my friends! I brought one a year back for like 40 bucks
Now Blaster is another story.....

Something different?

I thought people would be happy to get two cassettes and a "Soundwave" reissue... I know I am.

I was not at all unhappy with mine and Ravage remains one of my favorite figures ever. I could see the mp3 player if it actually looked like say, an ipod or zune. I see it as Hasbro saying to themselves why make a new mold, when people will stil buy the old one. Hell, if it was pink and yellow people would probably still buy it.
