I realize the trend, and figure it's due to people wanting to make the combination with Prime. But when did this start? Are people here actually paying these crazy prices? Although the crazy prices are justified as Transformers are as much a hobby as a line of toys and if you pass up things at retail thinking you'll catch them on clearance you might not find it at that point and will be forced to pay the going rate.

Even though the RotF Power Up Optimus Prime combo is lacking at best, it's still more affordable and more readily available compared to Jetwing Optimus Prime. Especially the latter is a deciding factor for some, which I find fine, unless you're thinking "I'll never get Jetwing Prime, why bother?"
Decepticharger wrote:I don't recall seeing that many Jetfires when it was at mass retail, mostly OPs and Megs, so maybe the supply wasn't that great.
The combo is nice, although I'd prefer Jetwing Prime, but that's $200. Jetfire therefore is a much less expensive alternative, creating demand.
All speculation, no data to back-up my hypothesis.
