It's a great set, I'm really happy with it. Personally, I can't fault it

I'm wondering if I should get this instead of/in addition to the Encore version. I would like a Voyager-size Max to go with my other bots in the display.

Get both. Life's too short not to.

The Kabaya version though great, can barely hold a candle against the real thing. Get the Encore mein freund!

Are there pics to show its scale with other classics figures anywhere?

I've seen pics of him with Prime Bulkhead and Classics Optimus. IIRC he's taller than Bulkhead and at least as tall as Optimus.

I'm wondering the same thing.

Google searching shows a pic where he's a hair taller than Classics Voyager Prime and the same height as FE Voyager Prime. I'm debating snapping one up to keep at my desk.

I have him. He's a good size compared to most of my Classics. Lot of fun putting him together, too. Of course, for a proper Classics figure he'd need some more articulation, but he's about as hollow as most of the new ones.
For a fraction* of the price of the Encore, you should try him out at least.
*1/10, if it matters.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I have him and am quite happy with the purchase. It was a lot of fun to put together, and the figure is overall pretty sturdy. I did notice some trouble with inserting his right fist into the forearm (there's a bit of stress in the connection now), but otherwise no other problems.
For about $30, I think it's a great value. However, I also collect the other Kabaya kits and can display them all together. This guy probably won't fit with other pieces in your collection. If this presents a problem or you have to budget wisely, I'd say skip this release so you can afford reissue Max.

I have kind of an odd question. Does the Master Sword for this kit fit in the hands of current figures?

It's not a 5mm hilt, so I'm guessing 4mm? It fits fine with Classics Rodimus. Most modern deluxe/voyager molds use the 5mm peg, so you've gotta be careful.

Actually, I want him to fit on my shelves. It seems like he'd be a good way to get a Voyager-sized Fort Max in the display.
