How to save your MISB from normal wear?

I've had my g1 purple Galvatron reissue misb and never opened for over 5 years. The thing is when last I looked at him, the box's edges and corners are looking pretty worn. This isn't cool to me anyone else have this problem and how to prevent? I use to move it around quite a bit and have stopped completely.

Well, stop moving it around, then.
Give the MIB's a standard place in the room, maybe behind some glass if you have the option. If you want to keep them for eternity, send them off to the AFA. They will imprison them forever!

I wouldn't advise to keep 'em MISB forever. Sooner or later they'll crack/break apart.

Yes thank you. I wish I had a glass case and the space and will stop moving. I sold my generations and masterpieces. Going to stick to strictly g1. Maybe even G2 sometimes. My other hobby is beer lights

I have a previous experience wherein my year 2001 issue Godginrai figure which was transformed only 3x and kept in supermode. When I tried transforming him, the bugger's legs just broke apart.
How'd it happen? Bad luck? Global warming?
Good thing I found a replacement. Also, that is why I kind of "despise" electronics in Transformers figure, corrosion will eventually settle in and damage the circuits.
Also, my 1985 Onslaught's "chest shield" just broke up (that notch that locks to the crotch) when I tried to attach it to form Bruticus.(Again, good thing there's an Encore replacement)
So I'm in a bind, most of my G1 TFs are in robot mode (I don't own doubles) so I don't want to risk transforming them to vehicle mode anymore. Keeping your tfs MISB will be a double edge sword in a sense that if you maintain them in such a condition, fine........but if you try selling them later (years from now)expect a 50% chance of complaints/returns for having broken parts.

1. Open the box.
2. Remove the figure.
3. Put the box away somewhere permanently.
4. Enjoy the figure.

I use to frown on sellers when looking on ebay and seeing a essentially misb with decals already applied and transformed a few times out of box. Now I'm not so sure. I use to see it as crappy for the next owner when those 30 year old decals still look incredible by today's standards. Also a cheap way for the seller to handle a little bit. Those tears on the box's corners and edges are such a eye soar

I've seen boxes in much worse condition than yours, trust me. For me, matters not the box but the content is pristine, complete.
In my case, MP Grimlock (Tomy version) I purchased for a discounted price. MISB straight from the Hasbro factory carton (the generic brown ones) from my buddy's store. But it came from the bottom part and was kind of crunched on the bottom. Bargained it to nearly 1/2 the price 'cause I know no one was gonna get it anyway............moral of the story, I have one of the 1st edition Grimlocks.
Also managed to get a DX Gobot Cy-kill (Super Bandai/Tonka version) or what amounts today as leader size. The box surface/ art looked like a well used Playboy mag..........water damaged I presume but the inside contents were amazingly mint. Didn't have a second though getting it for a song. That Cy-kill btw I posted getting the loving treatment from G1 Megatron.

I would love to see pics of those especially cy-kill. Wasn't one of the top gobot villains a decepticon like female? I see these reproduction sharkticon and shockwaves on ebay. Why are they going cheap are they knockoffs? My Rodimus Prime was kicked by my soon to be wife while she was mad at me, Its tore good ill post it soon but no chance ill let it go. I consider the 86 transformer line to be the true "next" generation and they were all my favorite.

Not as bad as I remember. This guy is so important to me. I can remember kids bringing soundwave to school foolishly but I don't ever remember anyone bringing post movie characters to school. Someday when I'm rich I will buy original figures. They are just way to high right now. A deluxe insecticon dammie sounds so good

You mean Crasher (Gobots). She is one of the Renegades. Cy-kill is the "Cycle", poor man's Megatron.
Here are the pics of the Cy-kill figure. The box is somewhere along the twilight zone
can't seem to find it but the point is, don't be too worried about the box dents unless you want to sell them.Just owning one is reward enough for me.

And the box damage of yours isn't really that bad.
As for the reproduction figs. Unless you are really up to it, fair warning because of the so so QC you might end up with a lemon.
G1 KO Shockwave metal parts rust easily and,the plastics have so so quality. Cracks easily. Same with Sharkticon. Sometimes, they come with missing parts or the molds lack a specific part to make them functional ( example of Longhaul from the KO Devastator set, his Attack vehicle mode can't be done due to a mold defect). In Wheeljack's case, his wheel rivets is a dead giveaway etc.

Wow that is so sick!! I remember Cy-Kill very well!! Funny if you think about that name, never happen today cartoons. In 84 Gobots and Transformers were in a neck and neck tie for school yard dominance. The TF were so much more sophisticated and the rest is....
Yea I saw a Shockwave for $100.00 a few months ago misb with 3 avail along with Sharkticon from another seller. I know enough to know those two figures are incredibly incredibly rare to be in such a condition and said hmmmm something aint right. I'll post a pic of my Megs tomorrow. Thing is I don't really care for the takara box design too much. The last 3 I sold was Masterpiece Megs, a loose g1 kup and a generations bone white Starscream. I want Hoist or a deluxe Insecticon or like i say Gnaw the Sharkticon. My collection has dwindled. I still like original Galvatron box art better. Am I the only one who prefers the retro Diaclone art more than the manga art on reissues last 13 years? Thank you about my box regret.

All the "Encore" used the blocky "Diaclone style art. TFC (Takara book case re-issues) and Galvatron used the "manga"/anime style art. For me, either would suffice. 'cause they're all awesome and just a different facet of the same.
