Best Transformer Toys from the film series
- Motto: "'till All Are One"
In anticipation of the Age of Extinction toys which will finally be released this month in a massive scale, I wanted to look back and ask you what you favourite toys from the movies are.
While the ROTF Optimus Leader mold is amazing and probably the best thing to come out of the line, I am very partial to ROTF Bludgeon, HFTD Leader Starscream and DOTM Voyager Optimus.
Which are your favourites? And what figures do you consider to be called some of the best?

Ejector.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Ejector Gallery
ROTF brought out some really really good stuff in the Scout class, like Skystalker, Breacher and Brimstone. But Ejector wins them all.

Movie 1 Landmine, fantastic detailing, great design, incredible amount of articulation and little touches.
Pretty much the best toy from the original Movie line.

Transformers (2007) Landmine Gallery
Oh and Mindwipe from ROTF is also fantastic, as is Skystalker!

Also, let's not forget the glorious duo of Lockdown and Lugnut.
Heck, any of this lot, to be fair.

As a rule of thumb, the non-movie characters tend to have the better more awesome toys. They tend to be just more satisfying as an action figure.

Re: Best Transformer Toys from the film series
I too am a huge fan of Ejector. I really liked most of the scouts as well. I was also ,oddly enough, a fan of Stratosphere. Super big ass feet and backpack but it all seemed to work. One of the weirder TF head sculpts out there.
My favourite is DOTM Megatron. The beat and defeated version with the cloak. He's sufficiently creepy which is quite original for a TF although flawed as a figure.

But now that you bring it up, come to think of it, there is a solid number of gems in the entire line.

For starters poseability is an issue. Not a lot of joints in the hands and legs and the cloak inhibits a lot of poses but i managed to get him into the one i wanted, for the most part anyways.
He looks dumb without the cloak.
He is severely lacking in paint apps (Hasbro version). He has an INCREDIBLE amount of detail sculpted into almost every nook and cranny but it gets lost in the blandness. It's almost criminal if you ask me.
He's also too small. That fig should have been true voyager size. Not the new downscaled voyager.
For 15 bucks i'd buy it though. He's still really cool and the most unique Megatron to date. If ya ask me anyways.

Re: Best Transformer Toys from the film series
the Human Alliance Basics from DOTM are worth a punt, as are a lot of the non-screen Deluxes and Scouts from earlier films. I just got Breacher and Hubcap last week and they're pretty good, especially Breacher.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

HA Bumblebee.
Voyager RotF OP, cos he's as accurate as the leader but more poseable and with swords that aren't annoying.
RotF leader OP, especially after removing the things inside his thigh swivels that stop the toes swivelling outwards.
Deluxe Sideswipe, the one that comes with guns.

There are a handful of solid deluxes from the first movie as well...

Like this Target exclusive Jazz repaint.

Or Bludgeon Wreckage, who has awesome battle blades.

And Stockade, one of my personal favorites.
As a general rule of thumb, if they didn't appear on screen their toy was a significant step up from the rest.

For sheer visual awesomeness, I'm going with Leader Class Ironhide, especially if you have the FWI-2 add-on, like I do.
Otherwise, Leader Class Optimus from RoTF is an engineering wonder in terms of Transformers. I also do like the DoTM Voyager Megatron, and I also think the figure is too small. In truck mode, he scales OK with Deluxe Optimus, but if you add Prime's trailer, it makes Megatron look tiny. I'm considering getting a KO oversized version, but it's really oversized (almost 2x a Leader Class) and costs too much. It would scale well with Leader Prime in truck mode, I bet.

I must also add Leader Class Sentinel Prime to the list. He's accurate in both modes, and looks rather menacing in robot mode. Unfortunately I have a hard time posing him, he's way too top heavy. But once in the right pose, he looks very good.

Re: Best Transformer Toys from the film series
Skystalker's my favorite TF mold ever. It's so nice I bought it twice. And would gladly buy it many more times.

Sunspot's head is intentionally like that to differentiate him from Skystalker; silver = visor

Though Sunny and Skys got a cool yin/yang, angel/demon theme going on, no room for a 3rd bat-mantis-UAV drone minion there.
Some of the other Movie toys I really like:
- Mindwipe
- Ransack
- Highbrow
- Brimstone
- Hubcap
- Ejector
- Wreckage
- Bonecrusher
- Hatchet
- RotF and Leader Starscream
Do PCCs count? There are a lot there, too.

Oh man, the fact that the skystalker mold was made to be with the other standout from this thread, Mindwipe, seems too good to be true. I cant believe I didnt know these were out there. Did they get a limited release or something?

Power Core Combiners, Scout/Commander-sized figures that combine with either clear Mini-Cons or spring-loaded drones. There are some gems in there:
- Huffer / Crankcase
- Smolder / Stakeout
- Icepick
- Heavytread
- Undertow
- Bombshock / Steelshot
- Grimstone (just stay away from mine and Va'al's)
On the flipside, avoid Double Clutch like the plague.

I would say Bludgeon, but recently I've been having issues with his hands snapping when trying to get him to hold the sword. Both hands have snapped, both have been repaired and re-repaired multiple times, but he still doesn't want to hold his sword. I might end up getting Perfect Effect's upgrade kit to help remedy that.
Anyway, got a little off-track there...
Current faves are the Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus Prime, Voyager Starscream, Human Alliance Bumblebee, and Recon Ironhide (which, even though I really wanted to get, I never did).

That's the beauty: they don't interlock with eachother, but rather with these spring-loaded drones to make a larger figure. The figure makes a torso (that's why they all have a second head or a helmet), while the drones make the limbs.
