Re: Official In-Package Images of Generations Darkmount
i always thought Darkmount to be an Autobot. so much for my plans of putting him in an "energon mine" in my collection.
btw, i know some people have been complaining about the head, he does remind me of Depth Charge.

Because since the character only ever appeared in comics by Marvel Comics, THEY own the name, not Hasbro.

Unlike most it seems, I'm quite liking this figure. Looks really interesting and I'm expecting the ankles won't be so noticeable in person.
Looking forward to getting my hands on one, but first, I definitely need to find a Drift somewhere.

Hmmm.
But I thought that characters that appeared in the Transformers comic were still Hasbro's property. Isn't that why Marvel technically debuted Circuit Breaker in Secret Wars before Transformers? So they could claim ownership? Also, didn't Jhaxis already get a toy?

Trademarks for comics work a little bit differently than ones for toys. We already had a major discussion about that in the Comics and Cartoons forum. It has been confirmed at the unveiling however, that the "Straxus" trademark is unavailable, so Hasbro used the name of his ship, Darkmount, instead.

My complaints about this figure: His fingers' blue clashes with with his arm and thumb's gray, those are some terrible-looking ball-jointed feet, and can that be called a mouth?
Other than that, he still looks quite nice, and I'm still getting him.

This, as with most all other upcoming releases in the Classics line, is a definite own.
And, has anyone else noticed the transition from a focus on long range weaponry to more hand-to-hand combat weapons? I'm seeing many more axes, swords, knives, shields and hooks. I'm digging it. I have had a long standing debate with my wife over the values and mores that Transformers is teaching our children. While I truly believe that we as humans have an innate need for battle, it is still difficult to watch my son walk around and "shoot" everything and everyone in sight (yes, yes I teach him that it is wrong to shoot people, even in make-believe, but he's two, gimmie a break). With hand to hand combat, there is a grace and skill that brings a sense of honor to the concept of battle and warfare. Consider the inference we make when we see a BFG-wielding robot vs a svelte android carrying a expertly sharpened broadsword.
I'm probably totally off base here, but I thought it interesting.
Anyway, Darkmount is a "mostly win". For some reason, the blue color on the pick handle isn't sitting right. I'm hoping those ankles are a mistransformation.

Absolutely loving this. Just wish they'd repaint Cybertron Starscream as Jhiaxus.
Definitely picking this up. Been a while since I was excited about a new TF. Be nice if the head was detachable.

So instead of shooting someone and make his death quick and mostly painless you prefer going all Jason Voorhees on someone?

I like that these non photoshoped pics actually make him look more comic accurate

Bought on sight and I hope this gets a black repaint down the line too.

This is the stance I've taken for years. I've always thought that murder rates would drop significantly if people were forced to use knives instead of guns. Shooting someone is so impersonal, so detached, that it's easy to run away and forget about it. But stabbing someone, feeling their life-force leave their body because of the blade you just thrust into them? That's downright horrific.
Back on topic, Straxus looks nice, just like the evil Cybertronian Governor I remember. Just wish they'd done his head right.
EDIT: Governor, not Emperor. D'oh.

Wow. He's a bit small in that package, eh?
That's not a great sign.
I'm hoping the Generations figures will be a good size, at least on the ones who count. =\

Well, good thing I wasn't planning on buying this guy, because that looks pretty disappointing. Those ankles are very weak-looking, if they're not mistransformed.
I never read the Marvel comics so I guess I just don't see the appeal of the character. Oh well, money saved.

In a perfect world, people wouldn't kill, maim, rape, or even say naughty things to one another. Unfortunately, this isn't a perfect world, and as AutobotTrainer says, the need to fight is imbued within Mankind. Part of it comes from survival instincts, and part of it comes from what you'd probably refer to as a soul, and the ability to feel such emotions as anger, jealousy, fear, and love. You're taking my words completely out of context, and implying that I find it ok to kill someone, as long as it's not with a gun.
What I'm saying is that stabbing someone is much more personal than shooting someone. If you kill someone with a knife, you have to walk up to the person, pull out your knife, draw your arm back, and thrust the blade into their body. You watch them die, watch the light leave their eyes, feel their life-force ebbing away, knowing that if you'd turned back on the walk, or after you pulled out that knife, that person would still be alive. That's a mark you carry forever. Shooting someone is as simple as pulling the trigger and walking away.

Much of that is, I suppose, true... if you stab them in the front. Slitting someone's throat from behind is less personal, quicker, and easier to walk away from without watching.
There's a way to detach yourself remorselessly from ANY form of murder. Killing is killing, regardless of what you use.
On topic, I can't wait for this figure. Never read the comics, just loving the design.
