Me! First TF I got was the Laserbeak/Frenzy two-pack. (I didn't get a G1 Soundwave until '05, mind you).
I actually didn't have a lot of '84 'Formers otherwise (Hound, Prime, Sludge, Windcharger, a red Bumblebee, Mirage and a Shackwave (I later traded that Hound and some Star Wars toys for the other Dinobots). Had a lot of '85 and onward toys though...

Birthday/Christmas gifts - got plenty of those in 85-86. Purchased on my own in a store? G1 Hound. I wanted that toy for awhile and saved up enough to buy it myself.

*Raises hand* Right here. A G1 Bluestreak, Rumble/Frenzy, Starscream... and Prime himself.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Prime was my first one. My grandmother has pics of me and my brother playing with them the day we got'em. It used to aggravate me that my brother HAD to get exactly what I got.

I never found Prime as a kid. I remember going to Service Merchandise (anyone else remember that store?) to try and track him down. He was sold out and I wound up getting Megatron instead.

In 1984, I hadn't been born yet, but my brother was already two years old. My dad claims he bought pre-Transformers at some point, but I really have no idea if that's true - even though I have a Warudaros.

Me! I bought Warpath with my pocket money during the holiday after Christmas. Still got him. His joints are extremely loose but otherwise he's fine.

I was 6 in 1984 so you KNOW I bought some Transformers!
My first was Bumblebee.
I remember I wanted Optimus for Xmas, but all my poor old mother could find was Soundwave, and even that was only because a co-worker of her's had ended up with an extra some how. It wasn't Optimus but I thought he was the coolest thing I'd ever seen haha. My first
(She still got me Optimus for my bday

I got Hound and Thundercracker, along with BB, Gears, CJ and Windcharger for Christmas 1984, but it wasn't from a store, it was made by elves in Santas workshop. I was 6.
Check out my sales thread, plenty of Generations, and Reveal the Shield figures for sale!!

I got a Starscream from a Ben Franklin Crafts. They used to carry the best toys when I was a kid. I had gotten Prime from Brendles in 84 also. I got most of my minibots then too but can't remember from where

25 years later the same question would be asked but changed to "How many TF fans that got a TF Movie Toy from 2007 at a store, exist on this forum?"
THEN I can proudly say "Me".
I only bothered to find out what the deal was with TFs after 2007 movie came along and my whole class brought TFs to school. The 1st i played with was 2007 voyager megs from a friend
THEN I can proudly say "Me".

Re: How many TF fans that got a TF Toy from 1984 at a store, exist on this forum?
I got my first in 84. I was 5 yrs old and in the hospital due to spinal miningitis. I had to have a spinal tap and it was very traumatic. My family was worried that I may not live and so I was showered with gifts.
So Im laying in a hospital bed and my aunt and uncil walk in and lay a blue streak toy on me. I had seen the toons and loved em. I had no idea there were toys up to that point though so I was thrilled to see blue streak.
I remember thinking that the red plastic that came with the fig so that you could read the spec tech bio was the coolest thing ever.
So after seeing my response to blue streak my granny and mom promptly went out and returned with prime, megs, sound wave and B.B. After that the next batch I recieved was x-mas. I cant recal exactly who I got then because I was also a die hard MOTU fan and got alot of them as well but I remember getting thunder cracker, starscream and skywarp for xmas. I think that may also have been the year I recieved shockwave.
As for remembering service merchandise Hell yeah I remember!!! I always loved getting the new S.M. catalogue because it came a few months before x mas and I could look at the new toys they had in stock to order. It always showcased new transformers and MOTU figures.
There is still a service merchandise down dixie hwy a bit. They are not as big a power house as they were back in the day but they still exist. I remember my granny and mom taking me in there as a child and telling me that was where santa did his shopping for the toys the elves couldnt create. They had all their merchandise behiend locked glass cases so that you could only look.(Does anyone else remember that? did all S.M. have their wares behiend glass or just mine?) That is why I believed that santa shopped there. That and the fact that they had a santa workshop set up just outside the door durring dec.
That was such a magical time to be alive. I truley love those memories. I aprieciate all the work my granny and mom put in to make x mas so magical for me. I know now that they were having almost as much fun doing all that stuff for me as I was having being on the recieving end.

I did. It was Gears and Bumblebee. Later I got Starscream as a Christmas gift along with the Devastator gift set when it was released. I also remember getting Grapple as a reward for a good report card in first grade.
