Not to mention how Metroplex is bigger than Fort Max, who was quite heavy in his days. So, Metroplex can't be that heavy if the higher ups can't make another infant crusher.Mindmaster wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Not really. Metorplex may be a giant with some electronics, but he's mostly hollow with a bunch of folding parts to both make his altmodes work and to adhere to toy safety laws.
True. I had forgotten to take into account for the intricate transformation of Soundwave.

Speaking of transformation, i love those visible hands. So much plastic to work with and Hasbro doesn't give enough of a **** to fold the hands into the forearms. Nice.

I will bet all my star wars figures, minus Boba Fett, that the SDCC Metroplex repaint's going to be Metrotitan, or one of the Metrotitans

If he is SDCC, that's a bit silly. That's one hefty luggage for those attending from out of city.
Let's not forget those cassettes are expensive individually.

I'll probably end up going for the Takara version anyway, so I'm not too worried about what this'll be.

Metrotitan pleAse!! They could bill it as metroplex in stealth nighttime mode or something. I just don't want two or three versions of the same toy with slightly different grays. Throw us a bone with something dramatically different.

I really don't know why Hasbro keeps pushing these "exclusives" and why people keep shelling out an arm and a leg for them.
If Hasbro can do these as "exclusives", what's stopping them from making them a normal release?

I'd really like some solid info on specific decos per release. I'd like to plan for which version to get. Metrotitan would be a no-brainer for me. Beyond that, I'm not loyal to either company. Whoever produces the better looking figure to my eyes, gets the money.

Pardon me for sounding dense, but I wanna make sure. There will be a regular retail release of Metroplex, right?
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

I'd much prefer a Metrotitan to be a retail release. The figure's already worth an arm and a leg as it is.
As for Metrotitan being too obscure for a retail release, consider how IDW is currently dishing out the whole "Metrotitan" deal in a much more mainstream degree than the old Zone toy character was.
And recall how the Energon toyline gave us an Omega Sentinel toy despite that character being a similarly obscure concept being brought to form as a Supreme toy.
Hasbro's very likely gonna want to get the most out of this mold that they can, and redecoing it into Metrotitan would be an excellent AND feasible way to do so. And by releasing it as a retail figure instead of a con exclusive, it would reach a much wider range of consumers: Older fans who know of the Zone character, newer fans who read about the Metrotitans in the IDW comics, and fans who just want a big, nice-looking, colorful toy.
And if the Combaticons have taught us anything, it's that "colorful" = "Retail friendly".
