It's amusing to see some people scandalized by a small 10% increase yet they don't care for scalping prices or inflated shipping charges on Ebay.

Stuff in America has to be cheaper. You guys have to spend a load of your income on health insurance.

For anyone who hasn't seen

I can't see spending a couple of dollars more being a problem. If anything, I'll just be more critical of which figures I purchase.

Considering how little the prices have risen for the Transformers toys, or action figures in general, since the Transformers were released in 1984, I'd say it's about time. Look at the prices on G1 figures compared to today's prices. Today's figures do more and come with more features and are larger figures all around than what we had back in '84. If they need to raise the prices to cover costs, then so be it.

Actually, that's my worry. You increase the official SRP by 10%. The scalpers increase it by 100%.

That's an exception. But the truck mode is not so good. Grossly disproportionate. Design is focused primarily on making the robot look good.
I prefer a balance of attention to both robot and vehicle. Even thought both won't be perfect.

I have more boxed items that aren't pictured in the galleries here. I have a box for G1 Skywarp that has a Target price tag on it for $12.99. I have a Perceptor box that has a price tag for around $18 - 20 if I recall correctly. I have all three Insecticons boxed as well ... I believe their prices are around $6.99 or something like that. The G1 cars were around $8.99 ... they're the closest thing to what's comparable to the current $9.99 deluxe figures. The Insecticons are comparable to today's scout class figures. The legends figures are about $1 more than the original Mini-Bots which were priced at $2.99.
The Transformers prices, if anything, have gone down in price considering the current size and features that we have with today's figures. I'd love to see someone run some inflation numbers on the examples that I provided to see how much G1 Grimlock should sell at retail if you added inflation to his price.

Lo and behold ... I found a website that allows you to do calculations on prices. Here's what it said about a $12.99 Grimlock from 1985.
The Inflation Calculator wrote:What cost $12.99 in 1985 would cost $24.31 in 2006.
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2006 and 1985, they would cost you $12.99 and $6.94 respectively.

I still can't get over the fact that we're paying 50% more in Canada while the difference in dollars between Canada and US is below 5% difference. Shipping them to either country isn't that much different since they're all coming from Asia..

TF Collection: It has come time to start looking to sell instead of buy, I'll be posting details in the b/s/t forum.

Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive page that talks about inflation. Here's the link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InflationWikipedia wrote:Inflation is the persistent rise in the general price level as measured against a standard level of purchasing power.

It's becows the high prices and the poor advertising that they are all shelfwarmers here in Germany, so Hasbro please put the prices down!
