The next Masterpiece SHOULD BE Ironhide
Now I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying it'd make the most sense.
-Ironhide can be repainted (slight retool) into Ratchet, both were in the movie, which Takara seems to be pushing right now. (All the reissues bar 2 are original toys of characters in the movie.) This is a very strong point as we know the MPs get at least one reissue/repaint and in this case, Ratchet is just as popular as Ironhide.
-Ironhide has never had a proper cartoon likeness toy, excluding super rare exclusives.
-Grimlock should be reissued before being made into an MP, along with all the other dinobots. That way if they never make the other dinobots in MP form, it won't sting as much if we can have nice reissues.
-Soundwave might be in TF2, that would be a better time for him. That plus we already have like 5 soundwaves in a relatively short time (TRU reissue, Encore, Titanium, Cybertron, MP3).
-Hot Rod blows and shouldn't be an MP before any much cooler season 1+2 characters, which there are MANY.
What do you think?

Based on your logic, shouldn't it be Thundercracker?tacogrande wrote:Now I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying it'd make the most sense.

The fact that he never had a BinAlt toy should be a plus for Ironhide's chances of getting the MP treatment. Only problem that I can see would be putting out such a toy right after the Encore versions of Ironhide and Ratchet, too much of a given character in too short a space can be less than ideal. Until something official surfaces I'm sticking with the hope that Grimlock is next in line, main problem with that one of course being the lack of repaint potential.

yeah - if only to pose pathetically grabbing mp megatrons leg before his 'heroic nonsense' is cut so fatally short.
Seriously tho he was one of my g1 favorites and id love to see him finally done justice and i cant think of anyone id rather have primes back facing off against megs and the seekers
lets bust some deceptichops

Megatron doesn't exactly have repaint potential, but they still made him, so there is hope for Grimlock.

No. Skywarp just came out, I don't think they'd release two in a row. Regarding Prime to Magnus, I don't honestly think they really planned on making more than Prime for the MP line when they started. Prime sold well so they released Magnus to make some extra cash while they worked on starscream/megatron. That plus a g1 accurate Starscream is coming out. Very small chance Thundercracker is next.
Edit: Not to be a dick, but where do you consider my logic leading to thundercracker being next? My strongest point was both Ironhide and Ratchet were in the movie, and Thundercracker isn't. If it was regarding the repaint factor I explained that above.

The next MP won't be out for quite some time, probably mid 2008. That plus Grimlock has had more toy saturation than Ironhide (Alternators Grimlock, Classics Grimlock). Besides the g1 mold sucks and they'll be choking on it whether or not an MP comes out.

I'd love to see Ironhide as the next MP. He deserves the treatment, and Takara can then do Ratchet a little further down the line. That's one repaint I'd wait for with baited breath.
If they make it, we will buy it.

Ah ha! You meant the 2007 movie. I see. I was about to be a dick about it myself there, but caught it just in time. Shame. I could have done with being a bit bitchy today.
Ah well. They'll do T. Cracker sooner or later. The Ratchet/Ironhide G1 cartoon model is pretty cool, I'd like to see that in any updated form, and Masterpiece would be fine.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

yes, I agree with your logic and since we need a new autobot and I think they should release something like a mini-bot pack 1 or somthing that includes bumblebee, cliffjumper, brawn, and windcharger for that pack. but yes I would love a Ironhide and since ironhide won't be in animated it makes even more sense. and all so, soundwave, grimlock and possibly t.c. will be in animated.

Although I would love to see an anime accurate version of Ironhide, I kinda doubt he'll be next, if they make him at all.
If the MP line is supposed to be all so-called "iconic" characters that is. I love him to death, but Ironhide isn't exactly iconic. I figure Grimlock, Rodimus Prime, and Galvatron will probably get next pick. Bumblebee might have a nice shot as well.
Though if Hasbro really wants to do me a favor(which they don't), they'll make MP Warpath ASAP.

I dunno man, Ironhide to me was always the second in command to the autobots. He had a huge role in the g1 cartoon, and the only thing that undermined that role was his crappy toy. Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet and Jazz are all g1 bots that were very popular already in the fandom, but being brought back for the movie had made them mega popular. With all the new fans being brought in I can't honestly say Grimlock is more popular than him anymore. It certain was true years ago, heck even months ago. But the movie has already had a huge impact on the fandom and Transformers in general. So we'll see.
If they make an MP Bumblebee I think it'd probably be a movie version over the original. Not that they're anything wrong with g1 bee (though some would disagree) but he'd be rather small, and it seems like they want to keep this line at a certain size/price point. Rodimus and Galvatron are obvious choices for an MP line, but I think they're going to hold off on them for now. Just a gut feeling. They're both leaders, and right now we already have leaders in the MP line.
Your sig is actually what I think would be perfect for MP Ironhide. Man he would look really nice, though the van would be outdated, it sort of adds to the 80's nostalgia.
Bumblezzz brings up two great points. I forgot to add the autobots are outnumbered in the MP line, which was another reason to rule Soundwave out for next MP. The animated thing I didn't even think about. That's another toy for Grimlock and Soundwave. I know Ratchet is in the toon, but is Ironhide?
Ironhide isn't really my main want for an MP line, but I just think he'd make the most sense. Personally I'd rather have a kick ass Skyfire MP, the classic is awesome but MP grade materials and articulation... die cast... *drools*

I absolutely agree; I've always thought Ironhide as Prime's number one bot as well. But unlike the other MPs, his name(much less his character) hasn't really been reused until the recent film.
On the other hand, a Ratchet-type character has been fairly consistent, and he continues to be a main character in the IDW comic series, perhaps the hope of hopes is that they'll do a Ratchet to Ironhide repaint/retool.
And I haven't heard anything about Ironhide being in Animated, so I have my fingers crossed for a Classics version.

But Ratchet's name hasn't really been reused either.
Ironhide hasn't been in any recent series aside from the movie and g1 with lame name throws like that spychanger from RiD not included. But neither has ratchet, jazz, or bumblebee. I admit to knowing nothing at all about the Armada or Energon cartoons since I couldn't stomach them. I didn't like Cybertron either but at least managed to get about 20 episodes into it before losing interest. It seemed like Hot Shot was bumblebee mixed with Hot Rod, Landmine was Ironhide, and Ratchet was replaced with Red Alert.
I honestly think Ironhide is a more popular character than Ratchet. Though the old marvel comics did seem to focus on Ratchet a lot.
A classics would be awesome, but then they'd probably "modernize" his alt mode. Part of me wants the MP just to have that sweet retro minivan.
We'll see what happens. Toy companies don't always do the logical thing anyway.

There was a Ironhide in both Energon [witch I know you said you didnt watch] and Beast wars [funny enough he was the same character] but he never made it to the show.

An MP Ironhide and Ratchet would be great. But only as modern-day vehicle forms, not a couple of old 1983 Toyota minivans :barf: We have now 3 MP Decepticons; Megatron, Skywarp, and Starscream. And only 1 Autobot; Optimus Prime. Two if you cound Magnus who is super-hard to get it seems. Have to even it up there before another Deceptigoon gets made.

The idea of the Master Peace line was to create new and more advance transformation for G1 characters while staying as close as posible to their G1 toon designs. To do as you suggest would change the premess that this toyline was founded on.
The alternator/Binatech line was more in tune with what your asking for.
