Wht's the most amount of money, you can spend on a single transformer, before you come to your senses and say no.

Around 30 or 40 bucks (without box).
I'm not much of a cardboard collector when it comes to Transformers.
I will be buying a g1 Jetfire this year so that all might change.

Well, the most I've actually paid is $250 for Victory Leo.
I don't set limits overall though. I know that when I want a Grand Maximus, I'm going to have to pay @ $750-100.
That's the name of the game player!

Depending on how rare my prospective purchase is I'm flexible. The most I've paid for a Transformer is a $200/£100 for a MIB '80s Skywarp with all the missiles still on their trees. I don't see myself paying anything more than that any time soon.
On the extreme end, though it's not a Transformer, I'd be willing to spend up to $1500 on a B-Club Tekkaman Dagger.

Whatever the tf is worth to me. For instance, I'd pay up to £30 for an alternator, but only up to £15 for a deluxe.

it depends on what I am looking for. some things I may pay more for than other things. It depends. Often I will shop around.

The most I'll spend is around $100.
Speaking of that price range, I once saw a G1 Wheeljack in good condidtion, no box or anything- just the figure and some accesories- for $120! I dunno about you guys, but I thought this guy's prices were absurd. Ironically, the store is called Big Fun (people in the Cleveland area of Ohio might know the place) to which I looked at the sign and laughed dericively at prior to leaving. |:[

I would not have paid m ore than 40 each for the classics tc, dirge and thrust. Which is why I have no plans on getting those. I don't see them as worth it. However, I payed 116 canadian(4 years ago) for the ghost starscream and 70 canadian for the black. the most I payed for any one figure was 120 canadian and that was for MP-03

Its worht what you are willing to pay and how important that is to you sets your limits - if to you its just a toy then its worth what the toy is retail.
The games of deception set i was willing to pay the botcon prices for but because it was a big descision for me it was sold out by the time id settled on that.
As far as toy prices go that set should have been $60 but i would have paid the near enough $300 asking price (before it got into realms beyond what i can afford)

See, the argument that was made when the set was announced was, that if you bought it then, the cost of the set divided by 5 worked out to around that price per seeker, maybe a bit more. Then you could sell the other two off (bugbite and dreadwind) and reduce the cost a great deal.
I'm not picking on you at all, just pointing out that sometimes in order to get the prices we want, planning ahead is really required.
It's going to be like MP Megatron costing around $100 for now. In the next year? Nuh-unh. Double that price. Just wait.

I think the most I"ve spent so far is around $100, not because that's my limit, but because that's just the highest amount that's been required for me to pay so far.
Predaking will probably go over that, whenever I decide to drop down onthat.

D-78 Predaking is my most expensive Transformer. I paid just under $300 then it trickles down to the 2007 Botcon set and MP-04.

The most I've ever paid for a Transformers was when I got a MIB Unicron off Ebay for $59 shipped. Right under that was 20th DVD Prime, at $50 plus whatever tax was.
If I were going to pay over sixty or just about sixty ever again, it needs to meet one of three qualifications.
It is 100% complete G1 figure.
It is Supreme Class sixe.
It is a club or convention exclusive.
Right now, I've got a... "Contact" that has offered me a 100% complete G1 Piranacon for $300. It is tempting and right now is about the only time in my life that I can forsee being able to finance such a purchase. But it comes with a drawback. It means that I would have to continue making payments on my car after I move back into my own place. Which those of you here at Seibertron that remember my collection picture thread, paying off my car before I have my own place again was kind of the entire point of moving back in with my parents.

There's no reason to set limits, 'cause limits are made to be broken, Baby!
Anyway, Sometimes, I'll go several months without buying a fig, but generally, no more than $100 a month, only because, I have other priorities.
The most expensive fig. that I've bought was a G1 MIB Roadfire(slightly yellowed) for $250. That really set me back and has made me re-consider this collecting thing, but hey, that was two years ago, and I'm still going strong.

My MP's and Music Label Soundwave cost me a Benjamin each. (That's $100 for you non-US folks out there)
And I dropped slightly more than that for the transformable G1 prime trailer with Roller.
For a non import figure, my max has been $45 for Cybertron Galvatron.

For me, it depends on what it is.
Alt/BT--my limit is $100. A month ago I missed out twice on an Alt. Swerve but the final price was $120.
Movie--the most I ever spent is $50 on Ult. Bumblebee. Other than that, I will not spend more than $20
G1--they typically range between $50 and 100 if they are complete.

I haven't really set an upper limit and doubt that I will. I know what the stuff is worth and what it is worth to me, so I make my decisions based on that.
For example I'm willing to pay for a diaclone Marlboor Wheeljack MIB. That's going to cost me some serious dough, but it's something that I will have eventually.

It really depends on what figure im going after that determines my "limit price". But so far my highest i paid was $246.00 for a Predaking and then $45.00 for Powermaster prime W/apex Armor.
It really depends on how bad you want that figure, which will determine how much you will pay. im pretty sure i wont be paying over $400.00 for an item but thats fine because nothing im after really goes over that price.

Yeah. Ultimately prices being too high or ok depend on what you are willing to spend in order to get that toy. If it's just a toy then why the hell are we all on here ranting on and on and on about them? There's clearly a reason we want these things, and I'd wager most if not all of us here recognize that they're only toys, and are cognizant of the massive expenses we will lay down for a toy.
Anyhow, my personal limits are basically determined by what the figure is and how much I want to own it. I don't set limits really, I just get buyers' remorse.

For one figure I'd say $40 unless it's one I could NOT SURVIVE without and it's rare. Then maybe no limit as long as it's reasonable.

there are no limits as to what i am willing to spend.
If there is a figure i want that costs around $1k and i have the $1k to spend on it, then i will.
sure i'd like to get said figure for 1/3rd of that...but thats not what it costs is it?
