Landmine as a PSEUDO-triple changer??!? Skorpanok is a pseudo-triple changer....people complain about the G1 Pretenders 'alt modes' consisting of merely folding the figure in half, but flipping arms backwards counts as a whole nother mode? I know, I know, and I like the figure, but calling him a triple changer shortchanges honest to Primus triple changers.

That'll be the Energon Sabre team from the Energon line. It's remoulded as well as recoloured from the Armada Star Sabre.

Yeah, he's the one on the Left in this link. He does look different. Are all of the components remoulded or just the top one?

The top two are significantly remolded.

Sonar (the hilt), I don't believe he is remolded, unless the connecter point for the sword formation was reshaped (and it might have been).

CP saves a thread, yet again ...

I only have Sharkticon from this line. The figure was given to me by a very generous member of this board.

I really like the figure a lot. He's a little backpack heavy, but the hip guns make it all worthwhile.

I have quite a few Energon figures, and have to say they are pretty good. Whole I do agree the Autobots suffer from the combination gimmick. Most Decepticons where pretty good.

From the ones I have, my top 5 would have to be:
Image
Image
Image

Skorponok is a triple Changer, he has 3 distinct modes. Not just pushing his arms back. I like the Cybertron Colo Scheme better. But he is a very cool homage to G1.
Image

Image

And I don't own him, but Galvy is very very nice.
Image

I do own Autobots I like. Like Rodimus, Tow Line and Downshift, but they do really suffer. The Decepticons seem to have had the better design team in that one.

Sonar has two additional wings on his legs on the remold.

I have always liked Energon and didn't really understand all of the hate. Sure some were negatively impacted with gimickitis but there were some really great figures in that line like:

Barricade:

Inferno:

Skyblast:

Treadshot:

Landmine:

Blackout:

Kickback:

Since this is rapidly turning into a pretty pictures thread here's the pride of my Energon collection, TV Magazine Fire Guts Convoy and Black Rodimus. I've switched the Rodimus weapon for Checkpoint's from the SWAT set to give Convoy matched orange guns and Prowl/Checkpoint red and blue to match his lightbar. Oh, and he's mistransformed with the arms the wrong way around so that he can have proper hands in shirt mode.

For me those moulds together carry on the Shogun warrior vibe that I've always gotten from the Armada Prime/Jetfire combination.

I think Energon was a reallydecent line. AT least from the figures I have. It seems a lot less brick-like than what 've seen of Armada. Of the ones I have ...

Unicron - I usually consider him still part of Armada since he's just a redeco, but ... what a redeco! I like the new colors way more than the origional.

Downshift - I just felt I needed a Whelljack in my collection and this guy fit the bill. I love the vehicle mode, but I have to admit, all the cars from this era were really wide ... they don't fit in the Magnuses very well. Still, he's a neat update of G1 Wheeljack.

Galvatron - Easily my favorite. Galvy was always one of my fav TFs and this just does him justice. He's what Classics Galvy will be competing with for a space in my "A" display.

Arcee - a neat litle figure. Not a fan of her weapon, but that's easily solved by just not putting it in her hands. Or wrists as the case may be.

Rodimus - I'd rate him as a B-. He was great for his time, but the gimmick limited him. His proportions are way off, he had no waist articulation ... but he's still a worthy add to my collection.

Starscream - A nice little guy to fiddle around with. I like transforming him.

Grimlock & Swoop - Wow, something happened here. I dunno what the story is here, but geez. I recently redid my "B" display and these guys ... even in dino mode Grimmy has issues and Swoop ... if Classics Grimlock's shoulders have misassembled locking mechanisms, Swoops shoulders just have no locking at all. Easily the worst of that I got from Energon.

I have to agree, there were some great toys in the Energon line. I absolutely love Rodimus, Scorponok, Landmine and most of the Basics.

Strongarm, so poseable and armed with one of the coolest weapons ever.

Would love to see some of them repainted:

Divebomb as Banzai-tron

Tidal Wave as Broadside

Slugslinger as Cyclonus

Sharkticon as Scourge

Battle Ravage as Rampage

Kickback as Bludgeon

The only thing I didn't like about Energon were the cars like Downshift, Prowl and Ironhide who I would have preferred to see as Basics.

Would love to see someone kit-bash a Basic Prowl from Robotmasters Mirage.

Lest I forget, loved the combiners too.

I was out of TFs when Energon was coming out. A shame really, I've since gotten quite a few nice pieces from that line! I love, but don't yet have, Energon Galvatron.

But I will respectfully disagree with the first post; Slugslinger is the Devil's Rump Pony!!!

I HATE that thing!!! My nephew has him and I can never remember his @$#%-ing transform because he doesn't look like anything in either mode! AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

See, now I've had seething hatred all over the thread :P

Cheers all!

I call these people "crazy people"

Energon was pure gold, I have the entire line save for Screamer which I am hunting at the moment.

The only stinkers in my opinion was the cruellocks and maybe Ironhide's alt mode.

Everything else from Omega Supreme/Sentinel to Strongarm was sweet transformer goodness to me. I even love Energon Prime, though he looks much better in gestalt mode.

Rodimus was a knockout punch too, love that towtruck design.

I am always on the lookout for energon weapons auctions, I keep hoping to find one with a box full of assorted ones.

GAR! I never bought Sharkticon! I, I, I simply forgot... what the hell? I still need to pick up a Takara Wheeljack too. Meant to at Botcon on the last day but was entirely too hung over to care about the dealer room. Yeh, Energon was nice. It's about when my collection started growing by leaps and bounds. Not that I was mostly buying Energon, it simply sparked my madness to expand the other facets of my collection. There was also a literal storm of TF product being thrown at collectors too.

Jetfire did see UK release, the problem with availability was twofold. Firstly distribution was really patchy with many parts of the country never seeing him. Secondly voyager shelf space was clogged with Ironhides that wouldn't shift even when they got knocked down to half price (and what did get shipped when the Ironhides started to clear? The Ironhide repaint, sheesh).

I paid $15 for an Energon Spear...just because it was Purple!

One or two of those weapons...kind of lame.

Start a collection, give them to the right people....pure awesome.

Wow. Energon Barricade looks really good. It's unfortunate i didn't encounter this series before. I should scout around and see what Energon toys are still in the market.

I think Inferno is a good candidate for Ironhide repaint. Make him G1 or Classic. But he will need quite a bit of mods.

Personally I think that the mould should be used as an Inferno figure for the classics. By that, I meant the G1 version. Changing the scupt to make it more Earthly naturally.

I own quite a few energon/Superlink figures and can definitely admit to loving the line. Sure it has a few disappointments such as Wheeljack/Downshift, who would have benefited as a figure without the 'Powerlink' gimmick that i am personally not that fond of. I also agree that Ironhide was absolutely rubbish.

The Decepticon molds definitely shine in this line, i have Megatron, Starscream (both versions), Mega Zarak (the best of the Scorponoks available), Mirage (seriously underrated mold) and Shockblast. My favourite Autobot would have to be Overdrive/Cliffjumper....he was much larger than i expected.

Good lord, i just got me superlink Galvatron from bigbadtoystore.com.....YAS!!! Just after i said he has eluded me thus far.
