Masterpiece Ironhide and Ratchet.
I can't believe no body ever brings this up in the daily "I want so and so toy made" posts.
Think about it. Wouldn't it be nice to get a cartoon acurate version of Ironhide and Ratchet. I don't think it would even be hard to design these toys.

If Ironhide doesn't deserve the Masterpiece treatment, then who the hell does?
Sunstreaker and Sideswipe(Lamborghinis *rrr*)
Some Beast Wars Masterpieces!!! I'd love to see an accurate Dinobot, complete with blue torso & hidden "beast-hide".
Wont happen though

Leaders and commanders. There's already a masterpiece line for common G1 cars and it's called Binaltech/Alternators.
Correction. There was a line.
Plus, an ambulance and van are much bigger than your average car. That, and Ratchet and Ironhide deserve to be bigger than the others. Very iconic characters.
Maybe a set of Bumblebee and Ironhide MPs? Ratchet and Cliffjumper? Wouldn't need to be licensed veichles that way, and can be much more like the original show models.
Ironhide and Ratchet would need to be the same size as SS and SW or thereabouts, and Cliffjumper and BB could be just smaller than an alt. Who wouldn't buy that for a price tag of £60? (or thereabouts)

Jazz. C'mon.... anyone with me? He seems to be the least wanted MP as far as I'm aware.
Honestly, the only thing I feel Masterpieces and Alternators have in common are the scale and the complexity of transformations, though that can be said of many pairs of TF lines. Aside from that, I'd say they're two completely different lines. Besides, if you're in the market for an MP, you want some G1 goodness, not some circa 2001 or newer car. People here complain when their bots are 3 pantone shades off from the original G1 anime colors, and yet MPs and lternators are somehow exacatly the same thing. It's the strangest thing.

I'd be ecstatic if they were even just repaints of the Skids mould.
BT/Alt would probably be the better fit than MP.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

If HasTak announced MP versions of Siders and Sunnny with licensed Lambo alt modes, I would quite possibly die from involuntarily ejaculating all the liquid in my body. And if RoadBots can get the license to make Lambo robots, why the hell couldn't HasTak be bothered to? Yeah, the Dodge Viper is ok, but the Alt twins would have been so much cooler as Lambo Murcilagos.Sarri wrote:Sunstreaker and Sideswipe(Lamborghinis *rrr*)

Actually i wouldn't mind seeing Masterpiece Ironhides and Ratchet toys... I was initially against the idea for a long time due to the thought of the MP being basically a Glorified Alternator/Binal Tech...
Some things do have to change, I mean imagine this in the animated cartoon instead of the actual bot...
Although they may be able to make the chest come up and form a sheild like in case of heavy fire, his back section where his head scomes down behind his chest, and makes him bridge the gap between the G-1 toy and the cartoon.. that would be kinda cool..

But more often then not, I have been thinking about what it would be like to get a very accurate cartoon and toy replication of those 2 bots..
Bridging the Gap:
The original Release has had some fan following for sometime, the gimmicks and transformable trailer are very cool.. but the fundamental likeness to the actual animation character is only half there.. if Takara Tomy were to do a Masterpiece version of those 2 characters, then I'm doubtful they could do the back section trailer as an addition, why not use the space for leg storage or some other "Good" engineering reason..
What is funny is that the chest area seems to be a hinderence for most Kitbashing customizrs and really offers up a challenge to anyone attmepting to produce an animation accurate model in plastic.. what would need to happen is a designed front section that can pivot and lock into place once in bot mode, to give the illusion of a chest and not a huge front end of a van.. further more, the back section that comes up to from the head and arm attachments will also need to be hidden with a plate of glass on the winshield.. all these things are but minor engineering steps that will ensure a good cartoon and accurate appearence..

It would be a shame to loose the bed and base gimmick, of which the original G-1 toy is so famous for, the functionality of a weapons platform for Ironhide and a repair bay for Ratchet, fits in well with the Van design.. say what you will about the original toys not looking like their animation partners, but the gimmicks in G-1 and those particular toys rival any thing that has since been released..
But back on topic, had there been no Binal tech/Alternator toys, then a Masterpiece of Ironhide and Ratchet would be easy.. now that the bar is raised because of that release, I'm hoping Takara's Ironhide and Ratchet will blow Binaltech out of the water!!!

I'd like to see G1 Jazz as well, I think he'd make a great MP. I think he has some nice gadgets that would go well with a MP figure, such as his speakers. He would need to have those speakers that extend out from vehicle mode somehow, and also speakers that attach at the hands in robot mode. Perfect stuff for a MP figure.
