The Hasbro NO Optimus Prime Trailer policy ...

I have no anger, just disappointment...
but I guess it all comes down to personal Preference..I myself didn't feel like Prime's trailer was useless... its like Superman without the cape.. yes he's still superman, but the Iconic look was with a cape!! i know allot of people here say well, he really doesn't need it, he never really used it in the show..
yeah, but I used to pretend that Spike and Sparkplug were left behind in the trailer, off camera, to man it as a weapons platform and provide cover fire as the Autobots rushed into Battle against Megatron and His decepticons.. and if the enemy ever got close enough, they could escape with Roller, until the coast was clear.. I mean that actually brings the Human characters closer to the battlefield, because Spike and Sparkplug always wanted to assist the Autobots in their war with the decepticons..and at the same time kept them out of harms way so Prime could fight the good fight unimpeded by Humans... so for me, the trailer serves as a good weapons platform for Spike and Sparkplug, and does a good job of being a repair bay form Prime or other Autobots.. and sice Takara or Hasbro will never give us a Masterpiece autobot base, too big and costly, then the trailer suits the job just fine..
But that's just in the masterpiece line.. I know Hasbro could change their mind and do a Trailer in the future, and I hope they do, and maybe it turns into another Bot, or a back pack or maybe armor like Ultra Magnus, and maybe Ultra Magnus gets a different armor at the same time... who knows.. but the No Trailer Policy as of right now, Kinda sucks for that added play value I was hoping for...
it's like only getting a Knight rider car.. but what of the big black semi truck mobile base that helps repair KITT?? with the Knight horse design on it?? that's kinda a good analogy, because though it doesn't detract from the KITT car, it certainly ups the play value, and if sold in a 2-Pack would make it better..as does a trailer for Prime..
as I stated though, i'm not angry, just let down..

Lots of Primes have trailers. Why can't some NOT have trailers?
I don't think Prime always has to have a trailer, but I don't understand why all th ones in the future arew not going to have one??
The trailer your right doesn't take away from prime, but why not add to it?? that's all I'm saying.. why does a trailer need to be lost?? what's next guns? Missiles? what so we just get a toy that transforms, because it's way to costly to do anything else for it??
All the future ones are not going to have one? Don't you mean, the next Prime that we know of won't have a trailer?
How quickly your forget about RID, Reissue G1 and Powermaster, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron. They all had some sort of trailer attachment. What was wrong with them?
Yes to Getters' list of Primes-with-trailers, and they all served some Prime-related purpose as well. Like skywarp-2 was saying about a trailer that turns into Ultra Magnus style armor, RID, Armada and Cybertron do just that....forget PM Prime, his trailer turns into almost exactly Ultra Magnus armor.
Dr. Z mentioned Energon Prime's trailer was his favorite, and I think that is kind of an odd choice in a conversation like this. People who still want Prime to have a trailer want a functional trailer or some sort of power armor, and here, the Energon Prime trailer was useless when it comes to Op himself. All it did was haul around Prime's extra parts. Rock on with your trailer Dr. Z, I'm just saying that the contention here seems to be that Prime needs a trailer that does something useful but Energon's really doesn't. Whatever, I like Armada Prime's trailer because it turns into an erstwhile base for minicons and is just fun, so the good Dr. Z and I may be eye to eye here.

I see Energon Prime's trailer as a base/command center/garage for the drones. It would be cool if it could combine with Prime, but Prime is already blessed with 3 super modes, so that's no big deal.
God Ginrai makes the best use of the trailers.
PS : I like the Armada trailer as well. The auto-transform feature is really cool and the base mode has tons of neat features.

look, I know it's not an issue to some people, but there was atleast an option there to display prime with his trailer..that option according to Hasbro from the Botcon is now gone..I gues I just like having the option versus being told it's not even a consideration anymore..
Haven't read through the whole thread yet, but that's pretty much what bugged me about a lot of Energon Decepticons, the lack of guns. Nice spiffy $20 figures, and yet, no gun for Energon Dreadwind, just some missles? Can't Ironhide get real handheld weapon and not ear weapons? No guns for $10 deluxes(like the combiner centers, Sharkticon), yet the less expensive basics come with sometimes two weapons? An argument was brought up once that it was a gimmick to get people to buy basics, but I don't agree. I think every figure should come with a handheld weapon unless there's a good reason not to(like with Shockwave). That was a minor rant, cause I'm VERY annoyed by figures that don't come with weapons.
But I didn't know about the no-trailer policy. I do recall when the original Classics was first announced it was stated that a Prime with a trailer would sell, but didn't. But isn't Animated Prime Voyager supposed to have a trailer that become a jetpack, or am I mistaken?
Oh yeah, about the Prime-body armor(unless it's been stated already), that did happen twice. Once with Powermaster Prime(my Prime as a kid, I got mine second-hand with no accessories, but it's a great Prime), and with Rid Prime, though his "trailer" was just an extension of his alt. mode.

I thought he was to have a trailer too but apparently not. The "back" of him sorta looked like a funky trailer to me, more like a back cab i guess but it's not a trailer. I can't find the stupid picture anywhere, but that's what I thought at first glance at least.
Here's a pic, yeah I sorta thought this was a trailer for some reason.. lol.. but it does turn into something at least.

Hmm, suppose I could have been wrong about hearing that Prime would have a trailer, cause I do remember that pic. I forgot how funky that truck mode is, but it's really growing on me. And that is the Voyager version right? I really have no idea what figures I'll end up getting for animated, but I see no weapons. Deluxe Prime has a cool shield and Axe, but if Voyager Prime just has the jetpack, then that's kinda dumb. Or if the jetpack turns into separate weapons(and combines for the jetpack), and he has nothing to hold while the jetpack is attached, kinda dumb again. Hey I can fly now, but I can't shoot anyone!
G.I. Joe's can come with five or six different weapons, albeit they're smaller, but Transformers nowadays have a hard time getting one it seems.

Ok, so I read 2 1/2 or the four pages and decided to stop reading because its all just a pissing match at this point. I can sound smarter than you by telling how things are refined or I know what costs are where and so on and so forth. I'm not knocking any posts but those are the parts that have stuck out in this thread.
Now heres how I look at it. In the cartoons that I saw(which for the most part are limited to g1, and the beastie shows)Prime rarely used his own trailer, if ever (hence why it would disapear every single time). So if Prime can't be bothered with his own acessory then I don't care to be bothered with it either.
The trailer does not make the leader. Prime is who he is because of his qualities and none of those are limited by him having a trailer.

He's a Fire-truck, that way it won't get censored.
Yes that is the Voyager version.
And that back turns into a big ass axe, wile the rocked of his backpack seems to become a blaster.

yeah I've heard that argument before..but here is another take that i like to look at, which is Spike and Sarkplug are manning the trailer as cover fire, besides if it's not shown in the show, why does the toy have to suffer, or vice versa..

I never said Prime was a crappy leader without the trailer.. but it sure makes him look good, and complete with one though..

After four pages of flaming back in forth, Robinson definitely makes a refreshing point.
People shouldn't resign themselves to how things are, but, at the same time, should learn to face the facts. Hasbro is not the same as Takara. They have different distribution markets, different pricing models, etc. Based upon some combination of these differences, they've decided that it is more profitable to release Prime without his trailer. While it sucks, a trailer shouldn't detract that much from Prime. If it does, what does that say about Prime? Robinson put it best: Prime isn't defined by his trailer.
It seems like the larger issue is the old argument about G1-accuracy against modern interpretations (reference: the debates over the "Bayformers"). In many ways, and I bet I'll get flamed for saying this, Prime's G1 look was completely arbitrary. Prime was based upon an existing Diaclone toy, and based upon that, there was a 50/50 chance he could have even wound up looking like Ultra Magnus!
What differentiates Prime from his Diaclone look-alike is his character. As long as the essence of Prime is there, who cares about a trailer?

I get your point and it's true, but I would shoure love a trailer for Prime, for me it's always been a part of him, and I just love trailers that transform into bases with hiden compartments and weapons, which would have fitted grate with the classics incarnation of Prime.

I love it when people want to be taken seriously with their opinions but it turns into "who has the better internet retardedness gif or picture".
Competent rebuttals help sway opinions that may or may not be in the majority, not how clever of a gif you can find.

I don't agree with that crutch, the same people who defend this type of critique always fall back on the price points and the costs incurred on producing a trailer, it's not a valid point, it's over used and just plain tired.. Come on stop using useless and tired defenses for Hasbro.. if they can use the same amount of plastic to do a couple of crummy minicons, then why not melt those crappy ones down and use them for a good reason, like an actual trailer for Prime, that could fit his robot mode and make him better..
That Expense excuse sounds like another "mission accomplished" propaganda speech...it's just too ridiculous to believe..
I see your little cry baby comment and I raise you this:
Cry baby thread pic has no effect one me!! ha ha ah ahahahahah!!
honestly they sell the Prime toy in stores at what 80 bucks in Wal-mart, so if they added a trailer we are looking at what??? an extra 20 bucks?? does it really matter if its 120.00?? I mean the stupid encores online are selling for close to 90.00!! the MP with trailer should see a domestic release..I'm not gonna close up shop and stop collecting because Hasbro isn't doing a trailer, and why all of a sudden people get the impression I'm going off the deep end because I speek my mind and don't by into what Hasbro says they are doing, and the reasons allot of the Same people cite for things not being done.. Price points, and costs, which we all know are BS!!
Actually $49.99 - $69.99 at Walmart.
