When I was a kid I used to line up everything I had and they'd all have a big battle. But you grow out of that stuff.
Nowadays they go on diplomatic envoys and have board meetings.

I will transform them whenever I rearrange my displays, or if I am just sitting down watching tv and just want to pass the time. But I don't really "play" with my transformers.

I wish they would bring back the CORPS. the closest articulation to GIJOE and were nice and cheap![]()
I don't play with my TFs really, just the odd transformation here or there when the mood strikes.
On the subject of CORPS - how good were they

Would setting up a stop motion animation with them be considered "playing" with them? I'm thinking of making one once I get a hold of my massive BW collection. Maybe with some crazy cross over between them and the movie figures I have now.

I guess it depends on what you consider play. I occasionally transform them and move them around. Looking back at my childhood I was really more of a collector even back then. I never really staged battles and made them fight. I pretty much just had them displayed on a bookshelf. The only difference between now and then is back then I transformed them more often, but I still hated loose joints and was careful not to over do it.

I have ongoing stories, and fun.
The rarer vintage bots are of course safe on a shelf, occasionaly coming down to be changed or rearanged.
But the newer, bots, oh they battle!
I take advantage of articulation, weapons, easy seperate ball joints, and everything.
HELL THESE ARE TOYS, IF YOU CANT HAVE FUN WITH THESE, THEN WHAT!?!
As a matter of fact, right now Energon Megatron is on a private quest to retrieve the light piping cranial case of RID Scourge from PinHead's personal Lament Configuration.
While Fury(movie leader megatron) has found Dark Scorponok sitting complacient in the wild, and seeks revenge for his creation.
And in all this Cyberton Megatron is regaining strength and is planning a strike on regular Scorponok since he mistakenly believes it was him thatbeat him down, thus causing Fury's emergence...

TF for kids mean toys : so just play with them. they're fun. I played with my TF when I was a child, making crazy noises, bump them each other, creating battle scene, etc, etc. it was fun.
now TF for me mean "interactive statues" (someone has mentioned this already). just pose them on a shelf, and transform them occasionally (i just realize that my movie ironhide has been in truck mode for more than a month. well, i guess i'll transform him tomorrow).they remind me of the great times i had in my childhood era.

Not like I did as a kid. I don't act out battles between them and make "pyew pyew" laser sounds. (At least, not unless I'm entertaining my 7-year-old nephew.)
But I do enjoy transforming them and posing them in cool action poses. So I guess the answer is Yes, I play with them, but it's a different kind of play from when I was a kid.

Hell yes. I play with them all the time. I wouldn't buy them if they weren't so much fun to play with. But I do a lot more than just transforming them: story lines, characterization, etc. I have my own little continuum now.
I started a thread about this a while back. So, you can find some additional comments here:

Yes, in a multitude of ridiculous ways. To me, they're toys to be played with. I collect video games too, and if I spent $50 on a new game, it's because I want to play it.
So far, there's been an elaborate slave auction with the Decepticons selling the Gobots to my other action figures, a very bizarre 'tea party', movie!voyager!Megatron exploring the lawn ornaments and deciding he doesn't want to conquer the place...
Actually, there hasn't been any conquering yet - no one's figured out who's in charge. It was way to easy to end up with eleven Optimus Primes. Though I get the impression that RiD!Scourge is going to end up leading the ground-based Decepticons.
