Do you mix display cases?

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Do you mix display cases?

I was wondering if people mix toys lines in display cases. I always try to keep similar lines together.

I only have one display case at the moment and I put anything G1 related in there. so far I have 20th OP, MP-05 Megs and some Alts/BT's opened in the forground and behind them is a collage of Mib and MISB reissues that i kinda use as a background, which fades from autobot red on the left to decepticon purple on the right with some random TFC reissues of characters I like.

I also include Armada unicron and Cyb Primus above them as i consider them to be universal to any line and the act as G1 conterparts of the planets from the 86 movie.

Yes and no.

All(well most of) my G1 figures are in a case divided by faction.

Cons on the top( :D ) Bots down below. In between as a divider I have my 6 inch Titaniums, THS-02 Convoy in the middle, then my Robot Heros in the forground of that.

The bottom of that case is empty right now, lower shelves, I'm always indecisive about as you realy can never see whats in them that well.

On top of that case I have a sealed in MP-Voltron, guarded by an origional Voltron, who's surrounded by all 5 lions. Then I have a Spider-Man/Green Goblin box up there too, mainly because I didn't know where to put it and it does seem to fit so, OK.

Across from that I have another set of shelves which I might move. Top shelf, G1 Omega Supreme in base mode. Right next to him is Energon Omega, then Energon LandMine, with a few other bots mixed in like Energon Demolisher(I consider him AutoBot frienly as thats how the show began)

Below that I have all my Alts set up, and it's nice to because they're right at eye level now. Then the bottom 2 shelves are again, just whatever at the moment.

In that room hovever I have about 15 other surfaces, and granted there are some intended displays, like Classics Megatron and Optimus in a dual infront of a sealed Megatron and 20th Prime. I have a Quint-01 manipulating Unicron's head in the middle, and clear Optimus Primal watching over everything.

I have all my newer Seekers on one shelf(Basicly if your a Con with a jet alt, your a seeker). That's StarScream's own faction.

2 Unicrons beating on Primus, Dai Atlas hooked up to CountDown with Star Convoy in the backround( I wanted to connect all 3, but the shelf is hardly big enough for the 2) and then I have all my Mini, and Micro bots set up there with some larger bots too.

My Autobot JetForce, set up stairing right at the Seeker Shelf!

But there's alot of fair game teritory too...

Then I have a case in my living room with a to of stuff in it, not just bots. However the bots that are in there are MP Prime and Megs, with there Titanium couterparts joining them. Alot of other stuff on that shelf, like an unopened Megatron upgrade kit, Golden Disc set, some of those KT figures...

Below that I have the 3 MP Seekers with a stainless steal Decepticon logo in front of them(it's a belt buckle that I got off Ebay, the thing mine as well be a weapon it's so sharp).

Then on the bottom shelf, G1 Prime and Megatron, waiting for me to elaborate a scene for them.

Wish I had some pics, but I hope you enjoyed!

I change mine around frm time to time. It is my adult way of "playing" with my toys.

Currently I have two large glass curio display cases, about 6 feet high with 6 glass shelves and lights. One case is for G1 bots and one for G1 cons (mainly). I have a mixture of static poses and more dynamic scenes. For example, in one case I have G1 Hot Rod and Kup surrounded by three G1 Sharkticons. Then I have Botcon 2007 Alpha Trion holding a dying Orion Pax in his arms, surrounded by the individual Aerialbots in bot mode. Then I have another mini scene with Galvatron and Cyclonus watching the Sweeps (3 Titanium Scourge figs) tearing apart G1 Ultra Magnus.

I can take pics if anyone cares to see them. Just PM or reply here.

Since I only got back into Transformers at the end of the Classics line, I don't have nearly as much as a lot of the people here. I tried to keep the different lines and factions seperate, but the more I bought the harder it got to keep them apart.

Now they are organized more by size than anything else. I've been putting off buying another bookcase for a long time now, but as soon as the Animated line hits I going to have to bite the bullet.

I quickly snapped a few pics of them. A few shelves are a little more cluttered than I'd like, but I'm just working with the space I have right now.

Nice collection, and I love the Macross stuff!

Just wait though, it'll happen soon enough. One book case turns to two, then a room, then two rooms, then you have to move...

I'm actualy looking at houses now, cause I need a full floor to properly set this stuff up and still have space for my other intrests.

I had to clear everything else off of that bookcase just for my Transformers. It used to be filled with various McFarlane and Anime figures, so I still need to find some space for them.

QFT, that's the way to do it and not get funny looks from your wife.

Currently I have my 220+ TFs sorted by series, w/ Movie and Energon taking up the most space at the moment. I have 3 5-foot 5-shelf units and 1 4-shelfer, just plain old plastic open ones. One-and-a-half shelves have Gundam stuff on them, the rest are TFs. I'll have to get some nice pics and post.

Most of my McFarlane stuff is boxed up right now too. I have tons of other non TF items that I need to set up.

However some things like my Star Wars ships, I have up for auction right now. What can I say, I like the ships, but not the shows and I gotta make room.

The McFarlane stuff would be in the same boat, but even though it's all breakable(stupid soft plastic) it is very evil, and I like that.

Downstairs in my rec room, I have one set of shelves that is four levels high, which contains the bulk of my new collection. On the top level I have most of my Alternator/Binaltech collection. The second level down is dedicated entirely to movie TFs. On the right hand side are all the movie Decepticons and on the left are all the movie Autobots. The third level down is divided into two halves, as well. On the right are my 6" Titaniums and on the left are my Classics 1.0 collection. Finally on the bottom shelf is where I have some misc. Cybertron and SWTFs displayed on the right side with plenty more room. Nothing on the left yet. None of my shelves are stuffed to capacity yet, with the exception of the top shelf. I can't fit any more Alts up there.

Then on the other side of the room I have six shelves dedicated to my original '80s G1 collection, or at least the ones that survived being in my parents' attic for 15 years before I rescued them. The TFs on those shelves aren't as neatly organized as my new collection, but I tried to keep the Autobots together and the Decepticons together. I do have one shelf where I kept all the seekers together, and the Insecticons are together right in front of them.

Of course, I also have various TFs scattered around the room, on the coffee table, and around the rest of the house here and there. Wherever my wife will let me put them.

I didn't even go into all of my extra stuff. Back when I was into the whole MISB thing I was buying Spawn and Star Wars stuff like crazy. I sold about half of my extra Mcfarlane figures, but still have a walk-in closet full of misc toys. I was going to sell off all the Star Wars things that I have also, but I decided to hang on to it incase I ever have kids.

My goal one day is to have everything on display, oranized by line, faction, etc. Until I have my own house though, most of it will stay packed away. I'm much more selective about what I buy now, so my cache isn't growing quite as fast.

When I first started buying toys again I'd get anything and everything. Now I'm pretty much just centralized on TFs.

A nice Spider-Man, or vintage mecha I'll go for(looking for an afordable Combatra). The He-Man revival a couple years back I shelled out on, those figs looked great!

But it does take up room. So right now I'm looking for a house, I mine as well pay a mortgage as apose to rent for the amount of space I need. Two factors I need in a potential purchase...

-A large semi finished attic for my toys

-A kick ass basement to turn into a lounge

:D

Grahf, glad to see that you kept your Best Buy megatron and rachet in there packages, they are getting expensive for toys.I'm lucky and work for best buy and got 2 sets of them, one for display and one for MISB. The premuims are gonna kill them though :-(

They were both impulse buys, I had some extra cash that morning. If I can remember correctly, the Best Buy near my house only got in about three of each. They seemed to fit that space on my top shelf well, so I just left them alone. If I didn't have two Ratchets already I would have opened him and Megs, well he just looks better in the package in my opinion.

Since you asked, I am putting up a few premature photos of my collection. My G1 shelves are a work in progress. I have about 75 more G1 figures to add, plus a few that could not fit on these shelves.

The room I'm putting together is in quite a state of disarray. We close the door when company comes over, when usually the room is wide open to visiting friends.

This represents about 40% of my Transformers collection. I have almost all the Alts, Botcon sets, and some Energon, Cybertron, Masterpiece, 2007 movie, Classics, and Titaniums. I tend to only get the figures I like, so my collection is a bit mix-matched. For example, I might have Cyb Prime matched up against Energon Galvatron.

That said, here is a link to a Flickr account with a few very quick setup snapshots. Enjoy.

I just divide by size class, actually, putting G1's and the like in the closest size category.

And my minicons and spychangers I keep in tackleboxes. :D

That was great, and trust me I understand about clutter and chaos in setting up a display room. I love how all your figures are doing something as well, and not just standing there.

Plus, the giant R2-D2 that can get you a beer!!! Lucky!!!

I keep a curtain covering up my display room too, as realy, it's nothing I'm ashamed of, however, it's not for everybody.

Click the link in my sig for a peek of what I got going on. This thread inspired me to finaly get started on that. Still have alot more to add though.

Everything so neat though, my free range shelves are always a mess, cause my guys are moving or fighting or fixing or you name it...

Still great collection!

Thanks! I have to keep it neat due to space limitations. And with a third kid on the way I REALLY have to keep a neat display because I will be losing my TF room to the third bundle of joy. The TF display will move to mine and my wife's bedroom.

I'm sure she's gonna love that!

You don't have a basement space or crawl space though? I understand with kids and all it's difficult, but I like to keep my figs in a side area, kinda like their own world type deal. If I had to look at them constantly, I'd get tired of them.

Still congradulations on the kid :APPLAUSE: ! I look forward to an introduction thread. I guess when 4 rolls around Optimus wont be curious anymore as to how we get little fleshlings

(sorry couldn't help it)

Welcome to my world. About 2/3rds of the wall on my side has my TF shelves on it. Unfortunately there's no room to expand, so any new TFs I can sneak into the house have to be creatively crammed in w/ the others.

And we don't have a Collections forum here? Can we get one of can we just make a thread in the Toys forum?

I'd love a collections forum, but I hear there have been problems with it in the past.

I started a personal thread, yesterday. I'm showing some pics, and am enjoying the discussions about them. Click the link in my sig if you want to take a look(what a shameless self promotion).
