The Most Memorable Repaint
Repaints are usually not the best topic to TF fans compared to new molds.
But we as fans, have to admit that repaints do helps us while we are waiting for new molds. They do deserve credit, which is why I ask you-what is the most iconic and memorable TF repaint?

G2 Laser Optimus Prime into Car Robots / R.I.D. Black Convoy / Scourge
He is still one of the most sought after Prime Repaints. The Blood Red Sword also helps make him that much more attractive to collectors.

My opinion would probably be The Starscream Repaints.
Whenever I hear Repaint I think Thundercracker and Skywarp.

I gotta second the Laser Prime to RID Scourge repaint. He's easily one of my favorite TF's.
My mind is a little fuzzy on this, but I'm pretty sure Energon Shockblast was a repaint of Energon Sixshot. Could be the other way around tho...if not, then the Shockblast repaint is an awesome repaint indeed.

I agree with Scourge being the best but I'm going to disagree on which version. The Car Robots Black Battle Convoy is the better of the two, with the show accurate pink eyes, windshield and sword and the upside down G2 Autobot symbols on the shoulders and launching disks.
But I digress. I don't count most G1 figures as repaints for some reason. Repaints and mold-sharers are two different things to me. So the memorable repaint in my mine is Magnus. From G1 to Masterpiece, Classics to Energon, Magnus has always been the repaint I wait for. And literally 9 out of 10 Magni is a repaint of the most Autobot awesome figure of any given series. It's the armor that makes Magnus into Ultra Magnus and with preorders that same day sell out, I can think of about 2,000 people that'll agree with me.

Re: The Most Memorable Repaint
I've always had good memories of the Walmart exclusive Transmetal Rattrap figure.
That was back when there wasn't a whole lot of exclusives and I always thought the blue and chrome looked great on him.
And of course, the greatest repaints would be the: Cyberjets !!!
But, you probably saw that coming...

Cybertron Repugnus.
Turned a fairly meh looking figure into one freaking awesome looking figure.
Cybertron Cannonball was also a nice drastically different repaint.

ooooo good call. The other good thing about him was there was a number of years between the release of the original figure and Scourge himself.
The only downside is it started a trend that saw nearly every subsequent line end up with a evil Black Prime repaint.
Before reading Overcracker's suggestion I was thinking Cybertron Cannonball. A pirate (original characterisation!) with one hell of a nice paint scheme.

Re: The Most Memorable Repaint
I would say the Cybertron Leader class Megatron being repainted into Galvatron. The mold is superb, but the Megatron's colors were completely hideous. When they went to the Galvatron, with the silver, orange, and black, he went from huh? did they just throw some random paint at him? to whoa! that looks killer.

Under normal circumstances, I'd consider the original three Seekers as "repaints"... but who was a repaint of who? I guess that since they came out at the same time, I really can't count them.
In that case, I'd actually consider the cab portion of Ultra magnus to be the most memorable repaint - if only because thanks to that and Dreamwave, nearly every UM figure in the 2000's has been a white Prime repaint!

Re: The Most Memorable Repaint
Of course everyone like RiD/Car Robots scourge- that's almost always a given (unless you're a supreme hater of Optimus Prime molds |:[ )
Many times the Megatron-to-Galvatron repaints are pretty impressive, as well as expected repaints. Especially in Energon and Cybertron, where Megatron had really silly color schemes for being the bad guys' leader.

Well you did say MEMORABLE not ICONIC. Bit of a difference.
As far as iconic goes, i'd have to say Thundercracker and Skywarp.
Why not Ultra Magnus? Because I don't perceive him really as a repaint. Yes, his cab is a repaint of Optimus Prime however neither the majority of his alt mode or his primary robot form resemble Optimus Prime.
And yes, i'm ignoring the fact he's a repaint of Powered Convoy from the Diaclone line and was meant to be nothing but an upgrade for Convoy.

Adding to what was already mentioned ...
the Botcon 2007 Alpha Trion repaint of Vector Prime is iconic G1 lore figure finally given justice as a figure.

Re: The Most Memorable Repaint
I don't think G1 Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker can be considered repaints, since they came out simultaneously.
As for the most memorable, Ultra Magnus is the winner for me.

Okay, Ultra Magnus is the most iconic repaint, representing all that is great about them and the worst parts at the same time. Magnus is a great character and one of the best things to come out of the leap from 1985 to 2005. But at the same time, it gave Hasbro license to repaint practically every Optimus Prime (and even E Rodimus) white since. Again, the best and worst part of something? In CR/RiD, HasTak wasn't sure how a white Prime would go over so Magnus got his very first original mold and they repaint a Prime black instead, giving us Sourge and Nemesis Prime (my favorite TF name ever). And it worked, we bought them. Now practically every Prime since has come in black or white or both. Magnus is the best and worst repaint ever and thus the most iconic.
But I think the most memorable repaint is one that expanded beyond the repaint into its own character. One of the least show accurate repaints ever, the character got its own mold on its second figure and has been a unique mold since. Two more figures, a Happy Meal toy and a show accurate reissue laterits now coming back as one of the most anticipated figures of the Animated line. That crappy inaccurate repaints name?
Blackarachnia.

Since it looks likes the most iconic repaint has been decided on, im going to go ahead and say my most memorable which is Stepper. I didnt realize he was a repaint of jazz when I bought him, I dont know why it never hit me but he looked so damn cool that i had no qualms buying the figure.
