What's the potential for toys of late season 2 characters?
Okay, by definition this topic is going to involve some spoilers on upcoming episodes of Animated, so for the sake of folks who've been avoiding that sort of thing I'm going to leave a little space and you can look away now.
Still with me? Okay, let's begin.
We have Shockwave and the Constructicons (all two of them!) due to be introduced before season's end and all of these seem pretty likely for toys, despite there having been no word from Hasbro on any of these as far as I'm aware. One point to bear in mind here is that Hasbro did recently put in a trademark application for the name Shockwave. We can't say at this stage that this will be Animated related, could just as easilly be a Universe toy that we havn't seen yet, or even (just possibly given that TakTom are supposed to have the rights to the mould now) a G1 reissue for the 25th line.
Moving on, we now know that fan speculation about the identity of the Autobot's ship that has been going on since Transform and Roll Out has been confirmed and that it is indeed Omega Supreme, and a very G1 influenced Omega Supreme at that. Will we see a rendition of this character as a second supreme class Animated mould? I've been thinking about the frequency of releases in recent lines, one new mould in Armada, one new mould and two recolours in Energon and two new moulds in Cybertron. Is it beyond the realms of possibility to hope for two supreme class releases in Animated? I for one hope not, as we now have a contender for the potential remaining slot that is truely deserving of a BIG toy release in a way that Prime, quite frankly, is not.
Lastly, and here we may have something of a point of contention, is Starscream's little brigade of Seeker clones. We already have the wave 1 Starscream release and an announced Skywarp repaint, but with the rest of these guys (and gal) taken into account there's at least another four colour schemes included in the show that could potentially see release as toys. Now while we know that Hasbro love their Seeker repaints, they also don't like dropping too many of the same mould into a main line at regular retail and overly flooding the market (with the exception of Movie Bumblebee and Energon Arcee, but even with these a good chunk of the repaints/remoulds have been exclusives of one sort or another). This leaves the problem for all of us Seeker fans that if any of these were to see the light of day in toy form we'd be looking at some kind of exclusives. I doubt that this would be quite as big of an issue as the Botcon Seekers (and we've all been through that one before, let's remember that this is about Animated, yes?) and spreading the repaints around a little may help to make that bitter little exclusivity pill a little easier to swallow. Maybe a couple as store exclusives, one at SDCC and one with a Japanese only release or something along those lines would be workable.
Okay, that's my thoughts about viability of upcoming show characters as toys, the floor is yours people. Discuss.

All the new characters rock. The new toys will be win. Me want.
I'll be getting what I can. And that's not even considering season 3.

Very interesting topic...
I'm excited about everything you've mentioned, even the "up-in-the-air" possibilities.
I think Omega will be a Supreme class figure.
It just makes sense.
I also think that Shockwave and both Construcicons will be made into toys.
Overcracker already mentioned in another thread that right now, in the grand scheme,
Animated has a low number of characters to work with.
Seeing that those working on Animated (both show, and toys) are not afraid of "non-modern" alt modes (aka the Dinobots, and B.A.),
I am hoping for, and could see Animated bringing us Insecticons and Predacons.
I think these characters could be made into toys even if they're not seen on the show.
Although we're already seeing repaints of main characters (BB and SS),
it doesn't seem like any of the other main characters are going to be repainted into different characters.
I'd be really surprised if they tried to use someone like Prowl's mold for someone else.
I'm actually assuming even an Ironhide could be a different mold than Ratchet.
Cliffjumper from Bumble? Maybe.......
I also wouldn't doubt if we see a couple others from each gestalt team, like we are via Scavenger and Mixmaster.
Unfortunately, the TF industry doesn't seem to want to touch the idea of combiners right now.
But this avenue gives the creators a lot of room for flexiblity.
Making 2 new jet characters and using 2 of the Aerialbot names would be so easy.

You forgot the much anticipated Blurr unless we've seen a toy of it and I'm not aware of it.
also Wreck-Gar is a possibility for a toy.
Starscrema clones, we'll likely see 2 or 3 repaints of the smaller ones, I'm not so sure Hasbro is about to repaint the Voyager class SS more than 2 times.
As for Supreme classed, Yes its not beyond the realm of possibility to see another Supreme class toy.
If we could get Omega Supreme, and Black Unicron in Energon, and Primus and Starscream in Cybertron we can surely get a Supreme Omega Supreme in Animated. besides Supreme Prime so far is quite a let down.
A Supremely Supreme Omega Supreme we will get.

Re: What's the potential for toys of late season 2 characters?
Wreck-Gar is supposed to be a voyager, thus continuing Lugnut's woes, as Lugnut towered over him on the show.
I think we can expect future deluxes from Blurr, Swindle, Scrapper, Mixmaster, and Arcee(though I suppose she's technically a series 1 character). There's been speculation due to his design, that Swindle may be a Prime repaint. Who knows at this point.
I think Shockwave will be either Deluxe or Voyager. He's a tank, so either he'll have the same problem Universe Galvatron had, or else he's the reason Galvatron had the problem.
There's also the voyager 2-pack of Jetfire and Jetstorm. Which apparently combine in some way.

From what little we've seen of Animated Ironhide to date (just shoulders upwards on a veiwscreen if memory serves) he'd need a remoulded head at the very least. That's not even taking into account that he's had no need to scan an earth mode yet.

Yep, those guys as well. I actually didn't mention them because I thought that they were already confirmed as a deluxe and voyager respectively in later waves and that we just hadn't seen them yet. Thinking about it I'm not 100% that that's the case, it might just be popular speculation at this point, but I've just gotta have me a Weird Al TF.
On the other point about just how many versions of a voyager mould we're likely to see, Armada Starscream managed five US released paint/mould variations (A Starscream, A Thundercracker, A Skywarp, E Sam's Club Starscream and U Ramjet), so with a con exclusive and a couple of store exclusives I don't think that six varients would be completely out of the question over 18-24 months or so. The trick would be not to oversaturate the market with a glut of the same toy in too short a time. Still probably a lot to hope for though.

I'm 100% sure that Deluxe Blurr is 100% to be made.
Someone saw it, and said it was a homage to Transtech Cheetor.

Having sought out what information was out there, all I came across is that they were asked about Omega Supreme, but neither confirmed nor denied it. Some would say suspiciously so. I may have missed it, but was it ever specifically confirmed?
I've been very much hoping for Supreme Supreme.

One interesting solution might be to produce a Cybertronian form Ironhide that could be repainted into a Cybertronian Ratchet.
Then further down the line they could always retool the current Ratchet toy into an earth mode Ironhide.

Another Animated character to look out for is Perceptor, the design of which was apparently shown at botcon.

Confirmation of Omega Supreme with pictures and video

Spoilerific.
I'm liking the Ironhide/Ratchet idea. A similar concept could work for Bumblebee and Cliffjumper if they ever decide to introduce fim. That would just leave two of the main cast needing a Cybertronian version. I seem to recall Bulkhead having tracks on his arms in his Cybertronian form so perhaps a Shockwave retool would be viable, no idea on Prowl without a new mould though.

If there is a Bumblebee, there has to be a Cliffjumper. It's been a trend, but it JUST might be broken, seeing as there was no Galvatron, Skywarp, or Magnus in Movie Line.

...woops -appears to be a little more than I needed to know there.

But thanks, it's great to have confirmation. And I only took a little peak.
I dunno if it's mentioned there, but it was also reported at Botcon that they really wanted to use Octopunch(!!??) ...for some strange reason.

I hadn't really thought any further beyond Ironhide. I thought it'd be a neat way of getting two molds for characters that normally havta share one. But I was under the impression that Cybertronian versions didn't normally sell so well. I'm not sure I'd want a Cybertronian version of all the main characters anyway.
Nonetheless, it might be nice to get a Cybertronian Cliffjumper/Bumblebee. Animated Bumblebee looked like he shared G1 Bumblebee's Cybertronian saucer mode, and it was a pretty nice design besides that.
Thinking further along these same lines, if there's any background or throwaway characters on Cybertron, it might be a good opportunity to work in Cybertron Optimus-type bots, in the same way they gave us the Ironhide cameo. If we're going to get repaints anyway, it'd be nice to give some of them the dignity of a minor screen appearance.

Dude, thanks for sharing the spoiler link...
I don't care knowing this stuff early. Not at all.
So the Constructicons are pretty big guys, huh?
I'm not sure yet if I like the looks of Blur or Shockwave...
Need to see some more of them.
And those Seeker clones are AWESOME!!!!
In that part 2, didn't one look like a female???
So...
The real question, is how many of those will we see in toy form?????
I'm looking forward to knowing/seeing Perceptor.
This line is going to be so sick!!!!

The Seeker clones are great, and there is a female one(I guess the feminine side of Starscream!?! lol). The others are different facets of Scream's personality apparently, so Ramjet is the liar, Thundercracker is aggressiveness, Skywarp is cunning, Sunstorm is egomaniacal, something like that... There's like 6 of them!!! I can't wait, it looks completely badass

Skywarp is confirmed, right?
I'd like to see Thundercracker and Ramjet for sure.

...looking through one of the spoiler threads on the cartoon forum, I now realise it's very possible that they will do a Cybertronian Bumblebee. It appears he does mold-share with another character.
