Although he wasn't released by Hasbro, I use the TFCC Soundblaster with mine. The vintage mold of the original with new colors to match the new times of the Classics. Plus I replaced Bussaw w/ my vintage Ratbat which increases his awesomeness.

Overall, an awesome figure. I love this guy. But for a Universe display, I find him slightly out of place. I'd stick with a Soundwave that retains (roughly) his original alt mode.

I really feel like this is a big reason we'll never have a perfect adaptation of Soundwave. The general idea for him is a music player, and these days, music devices are designed to be either stationary [big speakers and the like] or so small and unobtrusive they can't really be used as a cool alt. mode. *sigh*

We probably aren't going to get a music playing soundwave, but then again we was never a proper music player to begin with. He's a micro-cassette recorder - a dictaphone. They're handy in real life for taking notes. I suppose that's why he fits in with being a spy, he's small enough in alt-mode to hide and record the data he needs. They could use another dictaphone - they've never got that much smaller, nor have they stopped using Micro Cassettes.

Perhaps a better alt-mode could be a video-recorder, they were neither cool nor popular during the 1970s when Cassette Man\Soundwave was designed, but now they're commonplace and cool.

Of course, some people will say that a video camera should be called Reflector, but I can't see Hasbro reviving that character any time soon.
