Your dream Botcon set
- Motto: "Seibertron.com: Other sites lack the meat!"

I was thinking about what would make a great Botcon set for this year. It's getting harder every year, with all the controversy over "exclusives." There has been a hint for this year's set, the line "For one young Autobot"
So, I was thinking 1986 movie characters. My idea would be plastic molds of Titanium Scourge, Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus along with a recolor of Universe Cyclonus and possibly a few more.
Now's your turn, if you were in charge, what would you come up with? Please note that you have to use some sort of existing mold.

I'm predicting that we'll get a War Within theme. "One Young Autobot" sounds like we're getting a set based around Orion Pax. Universe Onslaught with a remolded head would be perfect for this.

I like the idea of more War Within toys, but besides the existing Cybertron Starscream, WWI TIT Thundercracker molds, nothing is really worth repainting that exists.
I'd like to see a repainted G2/Actionmaster set:
Sideswipe in black with a red head and hands
Ramjet in purple and black
Thundercracker in Actionmaster colors using cl Starscream
Cybertron Starscream repainted to look like G2 Starscream
G2 Breakdown from Classics Sideswipe (new head)
G2 Dragstrip from Cl Mirage (new head!!!)
G2 Blades from Energon Bulkhead (new head)
G2 Silverbolt from universe Silverbolt
G2 Onslaught from universe Onslaught
I could go on...

Not that I go to Botcon...or want to pay $250 for 5 $20 toys, but if you're asking about my ideal retool five/six pack...
Backstreet -> Retooled Classics Mirage, I guess.
Dogfight -> Retooled Classics Jetfire.
Override -> Ridiculously retooled Animated Prowl
Crankcase -> Heavily retooled Animated Soundwave
Ruckus -> Retooled...Classics Sideswipe?
Windsweeper -> Retooled Classics Ramjet. Or Jetfire again.

I think the Walmart exclusive repaint of Cybetron Red Alert is already pretty spot on.

That Orion Pax thing makes me think...robofreak wrote:I'm predicting that we'll get a War Within theme. "One Young Autobot" sounds like we're getting a set based around Orion Pax. Universe Onslaught with a remolded head would be perfect for this.
Previous sets have included alt. versions of popular characters eg. Shattered Glass, the Axalon set, and perhaps War Dawn would be another good alt. version stockpile. They could have Orion (obviously Optimus), Stalk (Prowl), Beats (Jazz), Bronzehide (Ironhide) and Scouter (Trailbreaker). Just names off the top of my head. They could use virtually any mould as long as they nlooked like "young" versions of the main characters.
I have to disagree with Onslaught as Orion though. It's a great mould, my favourite of 2008. But it looks nothing like him.

If you're talking strict War Within lore, Optimus wasn't even Orion Pax in that, wasn't his name Optitronix or something like that?
If they do War Within, there are quite a few of those that they could redo in plastic instead of metal.
Did Takara ever release Titaniums in Japan?

Re: Your dream Botcon set
I agree with Burn that Botcon repaints should be original characters rather than characters a large portion of the fan base is eagerly wishing to get their hands on.
So how about a scurvy pirate crew to go with Cybertron Cannonball?
Repaints of:
Armada Tidalwave
Energon Mirage
Energon Sharkticon
Cybertron Thunderblast (The Mary Read/Anne Bonny of the crew)
Cybertron Dirtboss (Eyepatch!)
Cybertron Slugslinger (Eyepatch!)
Armada Demolishor (Eyepatch!)
Animated Lockdown (Hook hand!)
Animated Oilslick (Fights with weapons made of wooden barrels!)
Movie Booster x10 (Captain's pet who copies everything he hears - including music off the internet!)
Some Minicons - the three boats from Armada or the submarine from Cybertron.
Not all of them, obviously, but some.
Of course, there would need to be someone chasing the pirates included in the set as well...

Re: Your dream Botcon set
I'd like to see a Decepticon clones set with the pain schemes of Ravage and Laserbeak(or Buzzsaw). If I could afford it right now I'd love to buy some and paint em up myself.
There was also some sort of blue bounty hunter I recall from one of the season 3 episodes (Sunbow cartoon) who I think would be neat to maybe repaint a Scattershot for.
And of course I'd love the Alligatorcon from "City of steel"

Not a dream set per se, and this violates what I was saying about not using established characters, but:

Cybertron Landmine -> RID Wedge
Movie Optimus Prime -> RID Scourge
Classics Onslaught -> RID Mega Octane
Classics Astrotrain -> RID Movor
Animated Swindle -> RID Rollbar
Movie Brawl -> RID Armorhide
Cybertron Buzzsaw -> RID Ro-Tor
Energon Sharkticon -> RID Skybite

Some great suggestions so far and some creative redecos and remolds.
The whole "established character" thing is almost a moot point. New characters from existing molds simply just don't sell as well.
There's a good reason the 06, 07 and 08 Botcon sets blew out and fetch crazy premiums now while you can actually still buy an 05 set (that one was mostly new characters other than Ironhide and Outback/Fallback) direct from FunPub.
The best way to do it is use existing characters from old molds that Takara wouldn't have redone on their own (like the 06 and 08 sets)

Re: Your dream Botcon set
I would like to see a set that is dedicated to combiner teams ... like a set based on the Protectobots.
Hot Spot = Universe Inferno or RID Prime
Blades = Cybertron Evac
Streetwise = Universe Prowl
Groove = Cybertron Ransack
First Aid = Universe Ironhide or Cybertron Red Alert
Even if they can't combine, I think it be a nice homage to the team as a whole.

I would like a set of unreleased, popular fan customs, and some I'd just like to see.
Hot Spot/Defensor-remold of RiD Prime
Megatron(BW)-remold of RiD Megatron
Devcon-remold of E-Slugslinger
Elita 1-remold of C-Thunderblast
Bludgeon-repaint of C-Unicron
Punch/Counterpunch-remold of Classics Sunstreaker/Sideswipe
Apeface-remold of TM Primal
Snapdragon-remold of TM Megatron
I also wouldn't mind if FunPub got that Frenzy Rumble guy to do a set. I would love to be able to buy his Devastator or Menasor for a decent price.

I'd go with Cybertron Lugnut (remolded) for Groove. More in keeping with the terrestrial alts of the rest of the molds in that line-up.

I like this set, they could call it "exclusives that never happened" or something like that, I'm not that good at catchy titles...

The Botcon pre-Beast Wars Megatron was remolded from Cybertron Defense Red Alert, which was an Ultra Class figure.
The Botcon Shattered Glass Megatron was remolded from Energon Megatron, which was a Leader Class figure.

Really?
I thought I remembered the "voyager" mold being tiny, as in roughly the same size as the Deluxe Energon Optimus Prime figure.
One less reason to be disappointed that I missed out on that set I suppose.
