Transformers Classic Deluxe Quality
- Weapon: Light-Saber Sword
Hey guys,
Question: Is the quality control/overall quality of these any better than that of the Universe Classics? I'm assuming not since they soound like they are basically in the same series.
I ran across some a deal on a Rodimus and Clifjumper today. However, I am so disappointed with the quality of Universe Galvatron that I don't want to waste the money if they are similarly quality challenged.
On a side note, I am extremely impressed with the quality and overall appearance of the TFA series. I bought TFA Ratchet and Prowl today instead of the Rodimus and Cliffjumper.
Thoughts?

I really had no problems with the first line of Classics. I wasn't in love with the transformation of Grimlock and I thought that Mirage's mold while cool just didn't strike me as the right one for the G1 character but really, no major issues there.
A few of them actually improve a lot on their G1 counterparts, namely the Seeker molds.
Paint apps are a lot better than Prowl in Universe and nothing will be flying apart like Galvatron did.
But if you haven't bought any Titaniums, DON'T! I actyually like some of them but you'll constantly be attaching and reattaching body parts.

To me the original classics felt sturdier, than the current TFU figures.

Re: Transformers Classic Deluxe Quality
All my old classics were a lot better quality than the new ones. Both my Prowl and Ironhide's paint rubs off, and the head was sloppy on my Sunstreaker. I had no issues with any of my original classics (I am only missing Megs, Astrotrain, and Rodimus). All have good paint apps, tight joints, etc. If you buy the Rodimus and don't like it, I will be happy to take him off your hands

I seem to hit the gold mine with every U/Cl2.0 fig I've gotten other than Galvatron, then... they've all been nice and sturdy with good paint apps, and in the case of Prowl and Silverstreak, no sticky paint (despite living in a hot and humid environment).

Same here....I have hit the gold mine with every single Classics 2.0 figure. No sticky paint on my Prowl or Bluestreak figures. The original Classics, I have never had a problem with in terms of the quality.

Re: Transformers Classic Deluxe Quality
Classics (1.0) had better QC then Universe/Classics 2.0.
Of the 2.0s:
Prowl is good, but the paint rubs off.
Sunstreaker is harder to transform then he needs to be.
Tankor's joints come off too easy.
Every Acid Storm had problems somewhere in the figure.
I read in this forum about Sideswipe's shoulder joints problems.
Of the 1.0s:
Every one was well made. Not a problem anywhere on any of them.
Hope that helps.

Re: Transformers Classic Deluxe Quality
dont base the current TFU line on galvatron-everything is wrong with that piece of crap. i'm glad i passed. i've actually had really good luck with all the universe figs i've gotten-i've passed on a few just because i'm not into the characters like Tankor and (itty bitty)Galvatron, but everything else has been great. The first Classic 2.0 i got was Prowl and i hated him at first because he seems flimsy and weak, but he turned out to be freaking awesome.

the seeker mold that is currently used is great! i've seen that people don't like its relatively small size, but what a good looking mold.

There was problems with Classics 1 - seekers with weapons not attaching properly. Other than that I don't know of any problems. CJ and Rod are both sturdy figures.
New Universe molds have had many problems reported with them. Same with TFA, which is why there's a sticky thread about how to fix the myriad problems.

I've changed my mind about not having any problems - I had to carve chunks out of Scavenger to be able to transform him cos his arms didn't fold away.

They have the same bad quality control:
Bad QC issues of people I know of:
1.0:
2 left rocket launcher on Starscream
2 left fists on Ramjet
2.0:
2 left fists on Acid Storm...
Maybe the seeker mold is cursed?

Well lets see, from the classics I have, Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, Rodimus, Mirage, Grimlock, Jetfire. All are nice and sturdy. No paint defects or sloppiness.
I'm assuming you are referring to the devastator set. Well that's really an energon figure, so any QC problems would have to be energon QC problems, which happily were really rare.
Anyway, mine has no problems, arms fit where they are supposed to. One folded under the legs, and the other well becomes the shovel in front, so no problems there.
I'm not entirely sure how it can have problems fitting. The arm just rests there, and the legs fold over and onto it.
So anyway, Rodimus is fine no problems there, nice and tight. Can't say much about Cliffjumper, but don't remember anybody complaining about him, other then his lack of weapons.
So yeah go ahead,m and get them.

Then you were transforming him wrong. Lots of people thought they had a bum figure, but everyone ( after a lot of tinkering ) finally got him to Transform snug. Mind you, if a little "plastic surgery" worked, then who am I to judge.

On topic, the Classics line is leaps and bounds better then the Universe line and Henkei is better then both of them.

You apparently didn't buy Henkei Seekers.
Loose joints, missile launchers that don't fit. Same problems that plagued Universe Acid Storm and a few others. Course, with Henkei you get chrome, but how much you wanna bet that the chrome flakes off in 5-10 years a la TransMetals?

i'll agree with Henkei-looking-better, but the quality is every bit the same. there's only so much they can do when they are using the same molds.

Henkei chroming are hit or miss, the Rodimus was a total awesomeness with the golden spoilers, but the orange sticker on the hood ruined it; On Octane the japans put chrome everywhere except for the shield where he would have needed it... As for henkei seekers, a chroming on their chest would have made the seekers awesome, but they are meh without it...
My own Uni Acid Storm arrived yesterday, and it is perfect, tight joints, perfectly fitting weapons and everything.
