TFA Jazz

Postby jduckworth27 » Wed Dec 03, 2008 1:49 am

i haven't been really hip on the TFA line, but i went ahead and got TFA Jazz a couple days ago. i'm glad i got him. i wasn't expecting to be so happy with it, but i was totally surprised! i felt like getting something since i've gotten all the Universe figs so far that i've liked. i totally feel like a goofball for passing him up for so long! he's just a great figure, and he is a really good modern update on that particular character. i also went ahead and got Sentinel Prime too, and i think that little sucker is cool as hell too. he isn't as cool as Jazz, but a nice figure anyhow. i'm not a huge animated fan, but i gotta admit to being pretty damn happy about these. i didn't expect to like them as much as i do. :D

Yeah, he really is win.

Something I like about the Animated line - you can simply collect subgroups without collecting the entire line, and it feels 'complete'. You can get just the Elite Guard, or just the Dinobots, or just Starscream's Brigade, or only either all the 'Bots or 'Cons.

Jazz is definitely one of the jewels of the line from my opinion. First of all, he's one of my favorite characters redesigned yet still extremely close to the original. And second, he's incredibly articulated. Very few figures can match his flexibility.

Heh heh heh. That's how it starts. "Man, Animated is so goofy, I'm not touching that at all. I'll just get this one. Oh, and that one looks alright. And as I've got those two, I might as well have a Prime. Hmm, every Prime should have a Megatron, and Leader Megs IS pretty cool..."

Go buy Prowl now. Actually, wait for the Samurai Armor version. Even if you end up hating the armor, I'm sure you'll be able to sell it to someone.

Exactly, Nickolai.
I collected the bounty hunters, you might say.
Lockdown, Prowl, and Oil Slick, that is.
They go well together, even if there is no real reason for it.

Soundwave is in there, too, but mainly just because I think he's a good standalone.
(And I just realized that the only "good guy" I've got is Prowl...)

Anyway...
So TF:A Jazz is worth picking up?
He seems to be a shelfwarmer in this town.

I buckled and bought TFA Jazz some months back...I wasn't sure I'd like him either, but the alt mode just looked good enough to purchase. Once I broke him out of his plastic and twistie-tie prison and was able to mess with him, I was indeed truly glad I did get him! Great figure all around! That robot mode is fantastic! He looks great on my Autobot shelf!

I have every Autobot that's available here, which means the all the current ones except for Swoop. As for Cons....all of them available except for Lugnut and Blitzwing. Blitzwing hasn't showed up in town and I'm holding out for a larger Lugnut.

I love all the figures! Each one has such character and uniqueness. I can't wait for more, I really can't.

The odds of there being a 'larger' Lugnut are about the same as the odds last year of a 'larger' Bonecrusher being released - practically nil.

i agree completely. as soon as i put him in robot mode, i was really impressed. it's one of the best bot modes in any line, in my opinion. it certainly opened the door for possible future purchases of the animated line for me. i also like the fact that he still has the shape of a Porsche if you look past the rear fenders. very happily surprised.

technically you have to get samurai prowl to have the bounter hunters!

i agree though, as i've got the ninja bots (prowl and jazz) and 2/3 bounty hunters (lockdown and oilslick). cant wait for the release of samurai prowl!

How well does Animated Jazz fit in among the Classics/Universe deluxes?

I have no interest in the animated line, but Jazz and the upcoming Blurr really catch my eye. And since it seems unlikely we'll be getting those two in the Universe line any time soon, I was considering getting them to round out the team.

What do you guys think?

Unfortunately, the extremely stylized 'robot parts' really don't blend in with any series except Animated. And, really, that goes for all of the figs in the Animated line.

which is good. at least you won't find animated toys repainted into movie toys. these are designs that stick into their own universe.

and yeah, TFA Jazz is a well-recommended purchase.
