Ok so this new store opened up in my area called the Bargin Shop and they have knock offs of Beast Wars TransMetal 2 Megatron and RID Megatron called Beast tech riders. The have no paint apps there just molded plasic un-painted faces but have all the things they came with. Each one of them costs 12 Canadian dollars so my question is which toy is better and should I buy one?

I can't say anything for those particular KOs although I do have both figures and each have their charms. RID Megatron is probably more fun due to the fact he has 6 transformations, actually 10 if you have RID Galvatron's instructions for the other 4 modes. Both are pretty well articulated but RID Megs likes to take out my GI Joes for some reason at even the slightest breeze.

6 modes versus 2.5. That transport mode really looks like nothing more than a dragon with wheels.

At least R.I.D Megs has some believable modes, like Jet mode, and Griffin Mode, and 2 headed Dragon mode. And robot mode mode, heck even car mode looks better.

And yes R.I.D megs tends to have week ankles. Mine's using his Sword's as support like an old man with a cane.

Don't you mean Beast Tech Fighters?

If that's the case, leave them alone. The quality control on the TM2 Megs is lousy, joints are loose and parts won't stay put as I've read. And RiD Megs only has the dragon mode at his disposal, really. We're talking KO's here.

I have RID Megatron and Cryoteck - a repaint of TM 2 Megatron. I think RID Megs is better by far. He looks cooler and actually have hands -OMG! Plus there the multimode thing.
However I don't think I'd recommend any of these KOs unless they are high-quality.

TM2 Megs has a fantastic dragon mode (and i'm a dragon fanatic) but his robot mode is stumpy and horible. Get an original RiD Megatron.

I'd avoid any KO's of these figures like the plague.

Both toys are too intricate and clever with their transformations to ever have KO figures made that would do them justice.

Really you cannot go wrong with either figure if you get the real versions, TMII Megatron is a fantastic toy, and even though his neck weakens over time, his characterisation in the Beast Wars series would make him a must buy if he were a terrible toy. Since he is a fantastic toy, that makes him even more worthy of a purchase.

RID Megatron is also a fun toy, his multiple modes are incredibly clever, transforming him can get to be a chore (especially if like me you have a bad memory). RID Galvatron is his better, but by no means does that make RID Megatron bad.

I was always disappointed in TM2 Megatron. The giant red dragon mode could have been spectacular, but the figure was plagued by disproportionate limbs, slightly stumpy legs, and back kibble that gives him some difficulty in balance.

RiD Megatron is an excellent figure, I can't think of any faults at the moment, though I'm sure he has a few. Regardless, I'd say that of the two, RiD Megs is the better mold.

Why do you say Galv is better? They're the same mold. That means it's down to personal preference over colour scheme and I prefer him in black and purple, cos I like purple and he looks darker.

Supposedly Megs original mold lacked a joint to let him transform into the other 4 modes that Galvatron could.

However I believe that is only true of the original Takara Gigatron Mold for Car Robots.

The Megatron Mold used for R.I.D. was based of Devil Gigatron (Galvatron) So can in fact transform into all 10 molds just the last 4 where left out of his instructions.

I have and love both. However if I were to take one to a desert island it would have to be RID Megatron. So much more bang for the buck.

I have 2 RID Megatrons and 1 RID Galvatron (who is in my calssics collection as Hun-Grrr) and I love them!

I don't own a TM2 Megatron, but I've always liked the look of his dragon mode.

If I was buying the KO though, I think I'd get the TM2 Megs. It is a simpler transform, and if he is just going to sit on the shelf it can look big & imposing and you don't loose the playability tha makes RID Megs so great.

I'll go against the grain and say TM2 Megatron. Both are cool figures, but I really only like the robot mode of RID Megatron, where I like both dragon and robot mode of TM2 Megatron. The robot mode of TM2 Megatron grows on you in time. I like the styling that looks like he's wearing some sort of medieval armour or something. The dragon mode is completely awesome.

Besides if you were on a desert island like someone suggested you may have less modes to figure out with TM2 Megatron, but you could be sitting there talking to him and plotting with him when your insanity sits in from being on an island alone too long... "ah yessss...."

I can confirm that RiD Megs has all 10 modes!
