Targetmaster
- Weapon: Electro-Sword
Wouldnt it be cool if they could release a load of targetmasters for the ultra class and some for the deluxes? I really miss the headmasters and targetmasters, minicons are pretty cool but id rather they be used as a weapon rather than an attatchment

With the upcoming release of Universe Targetmaster Cyclonus, it's not totally unlikely that we'll see more Targetmasters or some Headmasters.

I;m going to point you to the following minicons:
Firebot (Fire Truck/Missile Pod):

Makeshift (Helicoptor/Gattling gun)

Over-Run (Jet/Rifle)

Prowl (Police Car/Pistol)

Terradive (Stealth Jet/Claw)

And their various repaints.
I think I may have missed a few.
Still they make good targetmasters, but for some reason nobody thinks of them like that.

Re: Targetmaster
Having seen Stepper and Artfire in recent year, I'd love to see the G1 Seeker mold reissued with Double Targetmaster weapons.
The likes of Tip Top and Heater (Quake's weapons), actually fit into reissue Starscreams remolded hands as well as the shoulder and wing slots where the seeker weapons usually reside. Be nice to get more new seekers like Sunstorm or Acid Storm and make them Targetmasters as well.
Wouldn't mind Cybertron Swerve repainted and remolded to give us Targetmaster Hot Rod. His hand weapon really reminds me of G1 Targetmaster weapons and Swerve very closely resembles Hot Rod in the G2 comics in my opinion.
Since Dreamwave call Actionmaster partners like Catgut Targetmaster weapons, how about a repaint and remold of Classics Megatron as Actionmaster Treadshot and give him Catgut.
Oh and on the topic of Mini-cons, while not Targetmasters, the Sky Boom Shield actually fits nicely onto the port on the left arm of the combined form of G1 Ultra Magnus.

Safeguard is pretty much the Targetmaster partner to Vector Prime. He has a similar transformation and he sits unwieldily atop the spaceship mode. But I kinda know what you mean. No reason why they couldn't re-release Classics Hot Rod with a new Firebolt.

yeah i have safeguard, just wish he had a handle because there arent many (if any) classics he can attatch to
As for the other minicons pictured above, i gotta look some of them up. Ive never looked too deeply into minicons due to the lack of handles for most tf's, but those above look cool

minicons are definitely the link to Head, Target, Power and micro masters
however, Head Masters to me was done so well, they need to bring this back.
At the time it was hard to appreciate simply because it was so weird. It was ahead of it's time.

Some Beast Wars Neo figures also could double as targetmaster weapons: namely Stampy and Break

While there were a few mini-cons as weapons (as shown above) there should have been more!
I think that is a great way to have target masters in the line and it's a great use for mini-cons.

Re: Targetmaster

it should be dang easy for HASBRO to make minicon target masters.
who wouldn't want this kind of alt mode minicon?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hey-gem/3645374/
and if it had diecast parts
but head masters are a different story, it would be trickier to make compared to a minicon. personally I would want the stats meter on the bot body just like the way it was before.

not to mention fragile as hell!!!
that claw shown above is really truly awesome looking in all 3 forms, but he breaks so easily!

I'd sacrifice articulation, detail or anything else for a little more sturdiness.
the oldies had it right, simple is greatness!

Re: Targetmaster

exactly, the better universe figures are all sturdy as hell, hot rod, onslaught, silverbolt, jetfire, even starscream etc, then i look at blaster, galvie, sunstreaker and prowl throw in grimlock too, all are really flexible, but fragile as hell also have stupidly loose joints
(blasters knees for example)

Yannow. just about any minicon can be used by any figure with a standard (4mm) size fist hole if you have a few LEGO connectors...
viewtopic.php?f=143&t=47848
As for the figures, I actually prefer Prowl, Sunstreaker, and that over "sturdier", less articulated figures. And based on the most common comments around here, I'm not the only one.
Cybertron Backstop was pretty sturdy, for example... yet one of the most reviled figs in the line, mostly for his articulatin (again, based on comments I have read here).

is there somewhere online which sells these connectors? or is it a case of hunting the shops?

I just went to a local thrift store and found a baggie filled with odds and ends from various bionicles and other kits for $1. However, you could probably find these in nearly any kit.

I think Targetmasters are a cool idea, but I hate it when they are the only weapon, thus, if the TM is gone, then it is hand to hand combat, or well, you surrender because you are facing down a barrel and have nothing to fight back with.
The toys are cool though, and the minicons are also excellent when their alt mode works as a cannon, or gun.

I would like to point out that the gun for Energon Cruelock can be used on some of the minicons to give them a "traditional" handle.
